So I was reading up the new fluff in the SM codex and noticed that when Guilliman incorporated the Primaris Marines into his armies, the codex astartes was updated and now companies can have 20 squads of 5 rather than 10 squads of 10 (still 100 frontline marines). I'm guessing this is because the Intercessors and Hellblasters came out in squads of 5 initially.

This also, conveniently, means that a box of Know No Fear and Dark Imperium not only gives you a substantial Death Guard Army, but also roughly a quarter of a company of Primaris Marines. IN THEORY. However I'm unsure about the Inceptors. They come in squads of 3 but the codex, in the Company listing on page 27, 3 Inceptor Marines count as a squad for the company.

This kinda leaves the entire company short 2-4 marines no? Not to mention that Intercessors can be bumped up to 10 models per squad (but in the book still lists them in squads of 5). So all of this has me somewhat confused on what an all-primaris company would look like.

Previously, SM bikes came in squads of 3-6. But if I remember the old organization said that the Bikers were the same as the Jump Pack assault squads, just taking out different equipment for the day (and likely whoever wasn't lucky enough to get a bike sat home twiddling their thumbs, not that you could tell given that bikes were everywhere last edition). But I don't know if the same logic can apply to the Inceptors since they seem specifically trained for the job, especially since the other Primaris Close Support squad are the Reivers, which would seem odd if they just sat out while their other battle brothers had all the fun in the skies.

Does anyone know the proper organization for an all-primaris Company (preferably a battle company)? This is not including vehicles, command, or auxillary personel (such as apothecaries and tank drivers).

My guess is 20 squads of marines divided as follows:

12 squads of 5 Intercessors
4 squads of either 5 Reivers or 3 Inceptors
4 squads of either 5 Hellblasters or 3 Aggressors.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

I read Dark Imperium this week, and I got the feeling (perhaps incorrectly?) that the various types of equipment for Primaris are just that, equipment. You're not an Aggressor, you're just wearing Aggressor armor. You're not a Hellblaster, you just grabbed a plasma whatsit from the armory for the mission. That's what I got out of it anyway.

Yeah I started to get that feeling after I took a deeper read of the codex.

So would that mean a Primaris Battle Company simply consists of 100 mainline battle brothers, and whatever equipment they might field is entirely moot? (this makes my collecting easier, as I can just spam Know No Fear).

I think so. Someone might favor one type or another, but they'll equip what the mission calls for.
