If a spam thread is posted, I hit the yellow triangle and say "Spam". It is common for a spammer to post ~5 threads at the same time, all bunched up in the Recent Threads list.
Is marking one thread enough to get the user's other threads looked at, or is it better to mark every one of that user's threads?
I don't want to fill up the mod alerts list with spam tags if that is just as annoying.
So, mark once and leave it to get looked at, or mark everything by that same user?
And, should we put a post on there to say we've flagged it already, to save others from tagging it?
It'll shove the thread back up the list, for more people to see.

Don't post on the thread, just mark it and they'll take a look.

Replying to Spam threads can be risky. I'm not certain it's a good idea.

I'd save yourself some effort and not post, but it's cool with us if you do.
You especially deserve a big Dakka thank you for sterling work with regards to helping us eliminate the spambots, pint on me as/when.

Its best not to post in those threads, as it just pushes them back up to the top of the forum, giving them even more exposure (which is exactly what they're trying to accomplish).
Just hit the 'notify moderator' button on them and that's it.
If there are multiple spam posts made by the same user, then you only really need to report 1 of them. However, sometimes they do spam a forum using multiple accounts, in which case alerting only one thread can result in the other threads (posted by other spam user accounts) from being missed for a while.
If you've got the time, the best policy to is to flag every spam thread you see. But like I said, if you notice multiple threads by the same user, then you only need to hit the alert on one of them.
Thanks so much!

So:
Tag once per user,
Don't post, as that bumps it back to the top.
Back up on the wall, then. There'll be more along in no time.
I'll (silently) thank the Council's proxy reporters, as it's them that let me get away with this in work time
