I do most of my math hammering in Excel.
I out the number of shots in one cell, then the next cell is successful hits.
Assuming the number of shots is in cell A1, to figure out how many hits you get with BS3, you do "=A1*4/6" in cell B1. 4/6 being the chance of rolling a 3, 4, 5, or 6 to hit. Then to figure out wounds with S4 vs T4, you put "=B1*3/6" in C1. Then to figure how many saves a marine would fail if the weapon has no AP, you do "=C1*2/6". 2/6 being the chance of failing a 3+ save. Hopefully that makes sense.
To reroll ones to hit, it looks like this: "=(A1*4/6)+((A1*1/6)*4/6)" this takes the misses of 1 and rerolls them, and adds the successes together.
Rerolling everything looks like this: "=(A1*4/6)+((A1*2/6)*4/6))" taking the misses and rerolling them.
You have to change the chance to hit, wound, fail a save etc depending on the BS, S/T, and save of the units attacking and being shot at. But that's how you do it.
