Long time reader of the forum, I have never participated.
I enjoy the W40k setting a lot and I play Tyranids mostly, although I do have space Marines and I am heavily interested in starting Chaos Tzeentch style.
I am also interested in other war games to find out if it changes some things I don't like in 40k rules.
As for my armies:
I like to accomplish melee in some way or another. Hence some of my frustration of the 40k shooting heavy environment.
Tyranids
My only Hive tyrant was turned into a 7th edition dakka beast. Now I realise I should buy another one to represent the Swarm Lord.
I love the strategic aspect of the Tervigon but hate the model. I might buy a Maleceptor to represent it.
I find my Crone hits like a baby turtle in 8th Edition.
Genestealers are ace.
I love Raveners but can't get them to be very useful yet.
I have to buy one of these Exocrine since they became this edition's bomb.
Am finally playing those 30 hormagaunts for tying everything up.
Cover sucks this edition for low saves. Gotta love those technical fails like Venomthrope not working on swarms.
Who the hell decided Ripper swarm should hit on 5's where scarabs are far more decent.
Space Marines
My army used to be all-in alpha strike.
Speeder storm scout move + charge and 1 Drop pod IronClad Dreadnought first turn in range for flamer melta and missiles.
Storm's best use seems to be keeping scouts with shotgun inside now, and no more Dread in Pod.
I might sell Ironclad + pod now and go shooty.
Chaos
Terminators and terminator sorcerer for now.
I have to wait and see the Thousand sons codex.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Happy wargaming
