So I'm one of those on again, off again players and have been since 1992. This is my first time painting in five or six years not including the priming of these miniatures in Army Painter Wolf Grey primer back in 2012. The last full squad I painted was 12 Fire Warriors back in 2010. I don't like to paint, I like to assemble the models and that is about as far as my attention span can handle. However I'm getting to the realisation that if I don't do something with my miniatures then I might as well sell them and since I don't really want to get rid of them I might as well paint them.

I thought I'd start small with a five man squad of Space Wolf Blood Claws. These miniatures were bought on ebay pre-assembled. I'm following the Warhammer TV video How to Paint Grey Hunters and the Space Wolves Painting Guide "Companies of Fenris"

Day 1

Russ Grey, Agrax Earthshade, Fenrisian Grey

I'm finding my hand is not as steady as it used to be. I'm sure that will improve with a bit of practice. My highlighting isn't that great and I will have to do it again to get them to stand out.

Day 2

Added metallic colours and highlights.

Day 3

Second stage of metallic, painted fur and bone

Certainly not 'pro painted' but should work on the battlefield once they are done. Still have metal highlights, fur and bone to finish, the heads, then touching up with Russ Grey and finally basing them. More to come.

Looking good start so far. Just remember to take your time and enjoy it.

I am enjoying it very much, which is surprising.

I got the shoulder pads done and the Chainswords. it took three thin coats of Averland Sunset to get them done! Still need a wash on both. First coat of Bugman's Brown for the faces.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
This is all I'm doing for the day. I've got a 58 hour work week starting tomorrow so I probably won't be able to finish them for a week or so. Faces almost finished, just the dreaded eyes and mouth to do, I'm in short supply of the proper paint for doing hair. I still have Pack insignia's, highlights, , none of the helmets have details, gems, then basing it with snow.

Hard to tell from this picture but I cleaned it up with Russ Grey and added a bit more highlight.

Any suggestions?
