For those of you in the UK and EU (and maybe even further afield) ! I'm starting a new wargaming focussed convention in 2018.

Some of you may know me from SmogCon, a Warmachine and Hordes focussed event that ran for six years, with our 2017 show being the last show.

BonesCon is a new venture, building on the lessons learned from that show, and bringing the same mix of casual and competitive events to a wider audience.

The new show will allow for pretty much anything miniatures based to be played across the weekend of Feb 16th - 18th, and will be held in the Hilton Metropole in Birmingham.

Check out our website www.bonescon.com and tickets are already available https://www.tiebreak.co.uk/bonescon/feed
There is a 10% discount if you grab a ticket in September, usual price £50, early bird £45.

I've added a little background below for those of you new to me as an event organiser.

Our website can be found here, and will grow as we confirm new events and vendors/sponsors.
http://bonescon.com

If anyone is interested in attending, vending or helping run the show, please do drop me a line either here or via the email cptbonescon@gmail.com

We already have events confirmed for the following systems, as well as causal space for around 400 players at any one time -
Warmachine and Hordes
Infinity
Malifaux
Dark Age
Wrath of Kings
Bushido
Warhammer 40,000

and will shortly be announcing Guildball, Dropzone and likely several more, so its quite a diverse mix of games.

BonesCon is based on players from all systems coming together to play casual and competitive games against friends old and new.
When you buy a ticket, you can chose to either select competitive or casual. This helps us ensure we have the right balance of tickets for all attendees.
Each casual ticket gives you access to the causal play area for the whole weekend, allowing you to play as many pick up games as you like.
When you select a casual ticket you must also select a core system from the drop down menu. This allows us to set up the right number of tables and scenery themes to suit player needs.
Each competitive ticket guarantees you access to one competitive event in the system you chose. You will also then be able to enter any other competitive events that have free spaces on the weekend.
Either ticket also gives you access to the vendor area and the board game and painting spaces. You will also receive a set of BonesCon ’18 dice and an event programme on arrival at the show, along with your entry badge.
Buying one ticket type does not preclude you from entering the other area.
Casual ticket holders can also enter any competitive event in any system that there is space in, and competitive ticket holders can enter the casual play space.
The system is set up to allow us to track event entry and ensure we correctly allocate space and tables to meet the interests of our attendees.

Who is Bones Con?
The convention is overseen by creative director Jon Webb. He has over 23 years of miniatures based gaming across a wide range of games and companies, and considers himself a reasonable painter.
Previously Jon took the plunge and set up a Warmachine and Hordes centric show, SmogCon after visiting GenCon and being dared to create an American style event back in the UK. The show ran for six years, ending in 2017.
The vision for BonesCon is to build on the experience and lessons learned through SmogCon, and grow a community focussed Wargaming event, bringing together players and the people that make the games they love.
Jon has previously worked for Games Workshop, as well as spent a number of years running tournaments and events as a Press Ganger with Privateer Press.
He recently completed a stint with Warcradle helping develop the new edition of Wild West Exodus and can now be found heading up the Wargames department at Modiphius Entertainment.
Supporting his efforts are a team of dedicated volunteers who run the various rooms and events throughout the weekend.

Sponsorship update for BonesCon '18

We will be announcing more details about the show in the near future, including more sponsors, new events and the details of the painting competition and painting area.

We are pleased to announce Battle Foam as “the Official Storage Solution of BonesCon '18”.

Battle Foam are also sponsoring the causal play area of the convention, which is now named the “Battle Foam Casual Play Arena”. They will be providing prize support that can be earned through casual play across the weekend.

Everyone who books a hotel room through our web portal will receive a discount voucher with a code that can be used on the Battle Foam web store after the show ends.

Battle Foam will have a stand in our vendor hall, and will be taking pre-orders to be collected at the show, as well as bringing a range of cases and foam for all your miniature storage needs to the event.
Attendees will receive a 25% discount on items pre-ordered with pick up at the event and on items purchased at BonesCon ’18.

We welcome Battle Foam to BonesCon '18

Another major update, with two new sponsors who will be attending and exhibiting at the show, and some updates about tickets, including one day passes.

Some more exciting news for attendees as we welcome two more sponsors to BonesCon '18

GCT Studios (makers of Bushido) and Steam Forged Games (makers of Guild Ball) are both now signed up as sponsors.
They will be vending at the show, as well as running demos and organised play.

Attendees who book hotel rooms will find bonus swag in their bags from both new sponsors. Details of the BonesCon '18 swag levels will be announced in the near future, we are currently finalising art and reward tiers, so book those hotel rooms.
GCT will run a Bushido tournament on the Saturday of the event.

We will be announcing the details of the Steam Forged events soon, but weekender tickets for competitive Guildball events have now gone live.

With regards to the weekender, we want to reward attendees who have reserved their weekender places, and will be slightly changing the way they work (for the better).
All weekender tickets will now secure access in at least two events of their kind, meaning for example if you have booked a Warmachine Masters seat on Friday, you will also secure a SteamRoller seat on Saturday.

Of course, some of you might want to try other systems or go for a seat in the second Masters across the weekend, which will still be 100% fine, but this gives you a guaranteed second slot in competitive events for your major system.

At the start of October, we will be releasing tickets for single day entry. This will allow players who might not want or be able to stay the whole weekend a chance to still attend and play an event in their favourite system, or get a day of casual play in the Battle Foam Casual Play Arena.

They will also suit those who might be new to the BonesCon model of convention, who might want to try it out without committing to a full three days (but you should throw yourself into the event fully to really get the full benefit of the event.

Single day tickets will be £20 per day, but please note holders of single day tickets won't get BonesCon '18 dice. They will still be eligible to earn prizes in the Battle Foam Casual Play Arena, as well as full access to the painting and vending rooms, as well as the BonesCon '18 painting competition if they attend on Sunday.

This means the weekender is still the best ticket to get, as its cheaper than buying three day passes (especially if you buy this month, to get the 10% early bird discount), plus getting your BonessCon '18 dice and programme and securing a guaranteed slot in at least two competitive events (or casual play all weekend).
If you have bought a weekender ticket but feel single day tickets might better suit your needs, please do get in touch as we will happily make amendments to your booking (but remember that means no BonesCon '18 dice, and you wouldn't want to miss out on them).
