The Emperor's Armpit (aka. Arizona)

I'm trying to start a new project for my 30k endeavors. What I'm trying to recreate is 5 ultramarines assaulting some traitors (legion hasn't been decided yet). The ultramarines will be modeled with jump packs to show a shock assault. Any ideas on how I could make this work? Where would I get a base for it?

Most art store chains in America such as michaels will have a section for dioramas with kits to make grass, trees and hills. These are a good base terrain to start with, then you can look into model railroad terrain if you want to dive headfirst into the rabbit hole.
