Hi all.

First time poster. long time reader and viewer of the site.
been out of the painting game for many years now and thought i would try get back into it with some putrid blightkings.
However need some help with the armor as its far too green for my liking. Thought i would post and see if i could get some feedback. Welcome any suggestions.
Had thought dark angels green with some wash coats then highlight with snot green would have looked ok. but as you can see its very bright. probably should have base coated the armor black first.

Thanks in advance for any help. and suggestions to alter the skin tone welcomed too. haha.

Well yeah, I'd say they are way too bright green. I would recommend downloading the Citadel Paint App for your smart device and take if from there. There are many different variations of green presented and instructions which paints are needed for each.

Thanks for the reply. I'll download the app and have a look at that too.
Think im also asking if anyone has any tips to darken what ive already got. Rather than trying to strip and start again.
I'm guessing the app will suggest what to do starting from scratch.

Well for darkening you could always paint different colors on top if your coat is thin, or apply a layer or two of Agrax Earthshade (or similar).

I'd add some rust and corrosion to it. Maybe paint some spots in leadbelcher to look like the paint it worn off. Agrax earthshade would do it some good too. Maybe add some dirt and grim on it. I would also change the colors on the details crossing over the armor.

Overall I think it just needs more detail work done to it to give it a more grimy feel, right now the armor looks almost new.

Thanks very much for the advice. I'll give that a try too. This is just the base colour. I stopped before going too much further. I'll try a few more ideas add grime and try to darken

I would strip it and start over with an olive green instead, adding yellowish-brown to it for highlights (think the old GW Vomit Brown). Starting with a true green or bright green makes it very hard to get the right 'nurgley' feel.

The skin tones, on the other hand, are prefect. A bit of greenish-yellow pus around the sores would help, but that's detailing. You've got a solid base to work on there.

Thanks Vulcan. much appreciated. Tested one method last night and looked ok at the moment. went to try paint over it with black but then started to remove the paint after a short time and have been left with a dark look, with green showing through. may look ok once i get highlights added. Will def try to base with an olive green instead.

Thanks for the comments about the skin tone.
