Hi all,

Has anyone tried mixing in regular, non-mutated Iron Armor into their Death Guard squads? I really am not a huge fan of the tentacles-and-mouths-everywhere look, and while I'm fine with some of it, I'd like to tone it down.

Has anyone included full-mutation new Death Guard models and unmutated MkIII Iron Armor models in one squad? If so, do you have pictures?

Thanks!

I don't have any pics since my regular Chaos marines are in storage right now, but the new Plague Marines are significantly bigger. If you're after an old-school "beaten and diseased" look I'd recommend getting your hands on the Death Guard Conversion Kit (the Chaos one) from Forgeworld. It has torsos and shoulderpads designed to fit the "normal" marine bits and would look amazing with MkIII arms and legs.

Is the size difference between New Death Guard and MkIii Marines that significant though? I have these two models:

Hi,

I have not access to the minis right now but I can answer. The size difference is an issue, try to clean the new DG itself.
What I have done is to do not trim completely but to tone down.

Too long spikes were slimmed, shortened and/or reduced in number. As an example the dude on the right, above, is excellent but too full. I reduced the horns to slightly irregular CSM horns.

I also trimmed the tentacles to a 25%. Since I use blightkings weapons to conver melee marines from DI, this allows me to leave different tentacles and diversify 2 identical plagues (along with the use of the blightking helms, at least some of them).

I suppose you can use a similar principle but use Heresy (thus cleaner) stuff.
It can be tedious (for me is part fo the fun) but remember that for most list you will not need too many PMs.

Just my 2c.

Generic characters disappearing? Elite units of your army losing options and customizations? No longer finding that motivation to convert?
