And I'm really excited. Now, just for the record, I haven't had the motivation to play a single game of 8th just yet, but I hope that Codex Tyranids will give me that motivation. I was very pleased with GW when Codex Space Marines dropped, and I hope that I will be pleased when Codex Tyranids drops.

I really hope that Codex Tyranids doesn't nerf anything, but either buffs more stuff or keeps everything the same. What would be awesome is balance.

What do you want to see in the new Tyranid codex?

INSANE army lists still available!!!! Now being written in 8th edition format! I have Index Imperium 1, Index Imperium 2, Index Xenos 2, Codex Orks Codex Tyranids, Codex Blood Angels and Codex Space Marines!
PM me for an INSANE (100K+ points) if you desire.

It's a mere 3 days after my birthday, and I think about 4 days before I cna preorder it. I am so excited.

The nid index list is already pretty good, but I'd like to see the fex get back it's S10. then again, it's about 75% the cost of a Dreadnought so it's not that bad.

I kinda wish they'd remove the Tyranid Prime and just put warriors as a possible HQ choice again. Given that now even guard lacks squad-based HQs, this could make nids stand out as "THE" swarm army.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

When I'm editing alot, you know I have a gakload of homework to (not) do.

I'd like to see Walkrants (and the Swarmlord) escorted by Tyrant Guard become more viable. They're cool models but it's such a huge chunk of points to field right and the impact these units have doesn't justify that now. Why sink 300-400pts into a T6 bullet magnet when that also buys you multiple Broodlords/Primes that fulfill a similar role, but can't be targeted at all as they advance?

Flyrants shouldn't need gimmicky snap shot rules or CHARACTER protection as many Nid players keep insisting. Just let them use Gargoyles for protection in a similar way to Tyrant Guard.

Carnifexes need more anti-armour capability. Other Dreadnought equivalents don't suffer the -1 to hit Crushing Claws do, and often get a higher AP/damage output too.

HT/Fex ranged weapons in general need looking at. Unlike basically every other twin-linked weapon, the number of shots for large Deathspitters/Devourers remained the same. Heavy Bio-cannons aren't worth buying a whole creature for when they can only carry one.

Tyrannofexes on par with the new Leman Russ rules; points drop, Grinding Advance to move then fire twice and some way to make their hits more reliable via Hive Fleet traits, character auras or psychic powers.

The Haruspex is OK, but way overcosted. Around 200pts please.

Medium bugs in general need a bit extra oomph:
Warriors could use more mobility; either via 7" move and/or letting Primes join them in deep strike deployments. I'm not sure why Tyranids are the only race unable to bring along characters in their transport.
Zoanthropes are a bit meh too. The only benefit for taking a full unit right now is ablative wounds so more granularity is needed; such as each model generating additional mortal wounds via Smite.
Venomthropes are too easily picked off compared to the Malanthrope. I don't think they should be a CHARACTER, but perhaps requiring snap shots on them from a certain distance is the answer?
Lictors on the other hand could be a nice candidate to become a CHARACTER...
Pyrovores are useless without a Tyrannocyte, and expensive with one. Meh.

More than anything, I want to see fluffy & thematic armywide special rules akin to the original Tyranid supplements in the 90's:

  • Monsters that fight on through horrific injuries (ignoring damage table effects)
  • Tactical regeneration via stratagems / psychic powers
  • Respawning gaunts like the old Without Number rule
  • Outflank-like stratagems that make an opposing army feel surrounded and outnumbered
  • Virus Outbreak. Enough said.
