I started with a base of Bjorn, Leviathan and Ven Dread and tried to build a list around that. The list is essentially 3 groups each supported by an HQ unit buffing.

Group 1: With Bjorn having the buff to reroll 1's to hit I wanted to take advantage of this and gave the Leviathan 2x Storm cannon which is pumping out 20 S7 AP-2 D2 shots hitting on 2+ rerolling 1's. Add in 2D6 heavy flamers as well within 8". I don't picture a scenario where this guy would get into combat anyway as he would be a priority target if I saw one on the table so this at least gives him a turn or 2 of viability. With his 2+/4+ also can tank a few wounds and allow the Ven and Bjorn to get closer to combat where they really shine.

Group 2: I wanted to give my troops the ability to dominate a table area. I took 3 squads of grey hunters and put them each in a razorback all armed with the TL Assault Cannons and a storm bolter. The wolf lord buff is to allow rerolls of 1's and put him on a bike to keep up with the x3 razorbacks. Only gave him wolf claws to keep in on the cheap. If they get into a pinch I can unload the squads of grey hunters each with 2 special weapons and buff them all with the rerolls as well.

Group 3: Group 1 and 2 are infantry focused and needed some vehicle/monster help so I took 2 squads of long fangs armed with 4 lascannons each. They buff themselves allowing rerolls 1 to wound so I gave them a WGBL to also allow them to reroll 1's to hit. I gave the WGBL a jump pack and claws to keep him cheap but to also try and attack any deep striking units before they tear through my backlines.

Then there are the wolf scouts. I don't have anything deep striking and really just have these guys in here to disrupt a straight forward game for my opponent. If they provide a turn or 2 of a distraction then they have done their job or if I don't need them to I have a late game objective/line breaker unit to throw in the mix.

Overall it is geared towards a lot of shooting which I feel is needed in 8th edition but I do have the ability to close in on my opponent and still be effective in CC. Bjorn and the Ven Dread can really tackle any big nasty's if needed. Anyway let me know what you think

Youch, that's a nasty looking force! I dig it. It will be tough for deepstrikers to get in there to mess with your Long Fangs. I also like the Scouts for their Outflanking ability as opposed to infiltrating ability. Sneaky.

I would also approve a force using ALL Space Wolf Dreadnoughts, but that's another ballgame completely, and probably not nearly as competitive.

When looking the title, I've just imagined 4 Axe/Shield Dreads rushing up alongside Bjorn, supported by wolf mounted Iron priest.

Long Fangs "Fire Discipline" rule is actually pick a single unit and they re-roll 1's to hit against that unit, not to wound and WGBL buff to wound but i'm sure that's just a typo up top. As for the list, the rest looks good and the venerable with shield should make for great tanking for bjorn and the Leviathan. Have you considered using plasma cannons on the LF's? I've found the 4-5D3 puts out a lot of hurt

"You are free, Leman Russ of Fenris, because your freedoms match the emperor's will. For each time I wage war against worlds that threaten the Imperium's advance, there comes another time I am told to conquer peaceful world's that wish only to be left alone. I am told to destroy whole civilizations and call it liberation. I am told to demand millions of men and women from these new worlds, to make them take up arms in the Emperor's hordes, and I am to call this a tithe, or recruitment, because we are all too scared of the truth. We refuse to call it slavery.' 'I am loyal, the same as you. I am told to bathe my legion in the blood of innocents and sinners alike, and I do it, because it is all that's left for me in this life. I do these things, and I enjoy them, not because we are morale, or right - or loving souls seeking to enlighten a dark universe - but because all I feel are the Butcher's Nails hammered into my brain. I serve because of this "mutilation". Without it? Well, perhaps I might be a more moral man, like you claim to be. A virtuous man, eh? Perhaps I might ascend the steps to our father's palace and take the slaving bastard's head"

@neo: the ven dread was my favorite model in 3rd and 4th, and has always been my favorite back story of any model (blood claws with a close second) but in later editions they just couldn't move at any pace so were always caught out of position and blew up with one shot without doing much of anything. I'm easing my way back into getting that back into a list and thought I could give this a shot. The 4 axe/shield dread option sounds EPIC but I'm not quite ready to buying another 3 dreads to get that (but maybe soon because that does sound fun as gak lol)

@cult: you're correct on the typo. I love the plasma cannons, if I play an army that has a lot of infantry or light vehicles and infantry I would definently make the switch. This list is weak vs high T models (tanks, monstrous creatures, etc) and nothing better than the S9 of the lascannon to deal with that.

Looks awesome, but everything is better with imperial guard!!! let them do the Heavy Supporting!

Remove all along Fangs and Leviathan.

Add tank commander , Leman Russ with Battle Canon, Hull Heavy Bolter and Sponson Heavy Bilter.
add two more indentical Leman Russ Batrle Tanks (Battle Canon and 3x Heavy Bolters
add 2x 20 man conscript squads to bubble wrap everything!!!
