Subject: [1999] - Astra Militarum - TANKS

Been playing this list lately, even had really good success in a recent ITC tournament with it. How can I improve it?
All in all... my current feelings on it are...
a.) the manticore always performs... okay. Not great. but over the course of a game he does put out some hurt.
b.) St. Celestine rarely makes up her points. yes she is a good harassment unit, however she is pretty easy to beat. Also, she isn't enough presence to help the armor push forward into combat.
How can I improve this list?
Thanks for any help.

1. I'm assuming the vulture is a punisher vulture?
2. Swapping the Plasma Sponsons on the bs4 russ to your commander would probably be a good idea
3. You're not getting a lot out of your Catachan doctrine. Swap the multilasers for heavy bolters on the 2 Chimera, swap the HFlamer on the hellhound for a hbolter, drop the hbolter sponsons from the swap in 2, and you can take another 2 plasma cannons (and be exactly 2k)
4. Consider dropping one of the primaris altogether and taking an astropath in the same detachment, that's another set of plasma cannons for your russ

Some people find the idea that other people can be happy offensive, and will prefer causing harm to self improvement. |

1. Yes, a punisher vulture.
2. I've thought about putting plasma sponsons on him, but hadn't yet because he can't reroll 1s. It's less punishing now for rolling 1s.
3. The catachan doctrine for the Leman Russes was nice. What would you suggest? I am toying with cadian since that gives me pask and also he can give the order to rerolling random numbers for the Russes. It however makes my manticore and hell hound less effective
Tallern works on the Chimera but is meh. Was toying with Armageddon for the better range on my plasma guns.
4. I like this suggestion. I found the my psykers rarely cast smite and more often are casting defensive buffs. The Astropath does that just as well for 1/3 the points and gives ignore cover (if in range).

1. Punisher Vulture is Best Vulture
2. Self ordering tank commanders can get the reroll - it actually makes catachan tank commanders with explosives the best of the lot unless you're using the cadian stratagem; in which case the cadians are ahead by about 5%~
3. Catachan is fine; you just have to lean into it - get moar random shot weapons

Been thinking about making the Commander an executioner over a punisher. But those 40 shots are just nice
