Just started eldar, getting my head around the new codex and the ynari nerf and ive put this together to work towards for the competitive scene.

Basic idea is for the reapers to start in the webway/next to the farseer for intercept to prevent an alpha strike then buff them up along with reflexes stratagem to make them more resilient. Other choices are good eldar units but I dont know if i have enough anti horde, also are the wraithguard worth taking? Thanks

Devastating Dark Reaper




List has 2 big problems:

1.) Not enough anti-tank, anti- big guy. You could run cannon wraith-guards, or try to squeeze in 2 units of dragons. (5 dragon + 5 avenger in each serpent)
2.) The reapers are the only priority target for your enemy. They will shoot them with everything, and you loose most of your firepower.

Not much to go around the second one. :(


What I would do is: change the wraithguard for 1x 5 fire dragons, 1 of the avengers for another ranger unit, so the remaining avenger and the dragons go into 1 serpent, and the reapers and yvraine go into 2nd serpent.
And with the points buy missile launchers for the serpents and crystal targeting (an excellent anti-horde weapon, and can help with anti-tank too)

The dark reapers cant go into the wave serpent as there ynari and even if they could that means they start on the board. In the webway they are guaranteed to not get shot and i can buff them up with conceal/protect on my turn, i think with the reapers shooting twice and the 3 flyers i have enough anti tank, the serpents will be advancing every turn to stack the -1 to hit but option of missile launchers for both roles does seem interesting, dont know what id drop.

Fire dragons require to get close, any competitive list will block these with screens and once there out of serpent they will not survive. Its the same thing with the wraithguard so i wondering about replacing them with more dire avengers or even another hemlock.

Thoughts?

I think your balance is fine. Hemlocks and the hunter can put out lots of focused damage and I fully expected webway strike on the reapers. Shooting twice they are devestating.


Wraithguard are a hammer unit and can either go hunt when the screen thinks or be used as a counter unit from the serpent for opposing heavy assault units.

One observation is that you don't have a quicken which might make the wraithguard more flexible but protect is great. Coukd squeeze it in by dropping one reaper and seer to warlock. Jinx on hemlock is awesome to target on reapers target for turn.

In thinking about it more it might be worth switching avengers to rangers, moving serpent across to ynnari and then you could fire and fade the reapers after webway into the serpent to protect from fire for another turn. 4 rds of shooting from reapers is no joke!

Just a clarification for Ynnari, Dark Reapers and transports: You still choose a Craftworld for the Asuryani units in a Ynnari Detachment. They just don't get the benefits. So you could choose Alaitoc for the Dark Reapers and get them into the Wave Serpents

Can you embark in the shooting phase even with the stratagem. Thought it was movement phase only, but im unsure as I havnt got rulebook infront of me.

Forgot about giving the ynari units the craftworld keywords, thanks for that.

Rangers could be an option but do they put enough hurt on characters to take more? Not tested these yet so i have no idea.
