Folks, I am in the process of using mark III armor for a burly iron hands 40k army.
Wanted a couple of bike dudes too. I’ve never put together a single bike before. Is there anything special about the legs that come with the space marine bike, or could I just swap a pair of mark III armor legs I have and use those on the bike instead?

The bike legs come in a certain pose that fits snugly around the seat of the bike. I don't think normal marine legs will work without some decent modification.

They are specially modeled to fit on the bikes.
and iirc they are much smaller then the most recent kits.
you may need to get creative

Hmm, guess I will have to buy a bike kit and see what I am dealing with.
Sounds like at least two, if not three issues...
Wideness of leg stance, angle of legs relative to hip/butt area, and length of the legs.

You could potentially cut the leg above the knee on the bike and a spare mk3 leg that has the right foot angle.
but then you would need to ether hide or sculpt the armor detail back on the leg.

There are some companies who do MkIII-esque resin sets of bike rider legs. I'll try to remember who does them.

See this is how ignorant I am, I didn't even think to look for that. I'll check out Kromlech (thanks Noodles) and others and see if I find anything.

I know I've seen them, I just can't remember where:
These aren't the ones I was thinking of, but Kromlech does indeed have them:

Now you'd still have arms which aren't super-mega MkIII but that shouldn't be terribly noticeable.

Cool, those could definitely work, thanks! (I'm holding out hope plastic MKIII legs could be workable even though that is doubtful, when my bike arrives I will find out).
As for arms, the plastic Mark III marine kit does have a couple of sraight-ish arms that maybe could possible work, if I attach the regular bike marine hand to them. We'll see.
Also, I figure the dude could be holding the handlebars with one hand and have a gun or melee weapon in the other.

UPDATE:
Mk III legs 100% do not work with the bike. Possibly after 4 different cuts, repositioning and serious green stuffing, perhaps it will fit and not look like garbage, but otherwise no.
As for arms, haven’t done it yet but it looks like using the melee weapon arm will work - one simple cut and rotation of the forearm section (and then gluing the bike hand onto it). So a Mark III marine could drive the bike one handed with Mark III arms and hold a weapon or gun in the other. Without too much trouble. Modifying the legs look like way too much trouble though. Looks like I am going third party for the legs

I am going to say that I agree with everyone above. The Kromlech biker legs would be a good choice.

the old metal bike squad torsos had all the guys with only one hand on the handlebars, the others were holding weapons, so I see no problem modelling other bikers like that.

Ok cool, figured that would work out.
By the time those 3rd party bike legs arrive and I actually have time to get around to this, I will post the results. Probably in a new thread so as not to do a thread lich over a month from now lol
