Hello. first time posting a blog for painting and modelling as I have finally built some confidence in my painting.Currently I am in the early stages of building and painting a Dark Eldar army based around wyches and reavers... fun stuff. So far, I have 5 kabalites completed, and I am in the middle of painting 3 reavers.

Kabalites:

I'm doing a few things that I thought would make the reavers stand out, including a few pumpkins placed on the bases, and using a camo pattern on the bikes inspired by the alaitoc camo that Duncan paints.

WIP bases:

Completed Reavers:

Once I set up a proper light box I will begin to take better photos.

Edit: I plan to keep this updated weekly, but it may be more or less.

Any thoughts and criticism?

Thank you kindly.

Hello and Happy New Year!

I'm back with a small update to my Dark Eldar.

I have found out that when i take pictures I notice a lot more of the mistakes I have made, and I am seeing that even though I am thinning my paints and using a wet palette, that some of my colors are still coming out thick.

Case in point, the pilot of the venom I started working on today. I was all excited about my first time painting skin, and computer screens, then I zoom into my picture and see that things are not so smooth....

Venom in question:

Finally, I have put some more work into my reavers. I finished the camo, as well as added the rest of the base coats for these two:

I have been trying to iron out the jet bike camo, and I believe that these next two are a step in the right direction. If anyone has some suggestions or ideas, I am all ears!

The center reaver is the original job:

There are a few things missing color here and there, but they are getting there. Next steps are to wash, touch up, and then edge highlight for all three bikes. After these reavers and the venom, it's on to either 5 more kabalites or a box of wyches. I should have a suitable update by the end of the week. Again, sorry for the poor pictures, until I can get a proper lightbox set up going, this will have to do. I plan to have 750 points playable over the next month, as it has been quite some time since I had a game, and I'd like to get back into it. I'll post an army list here as soon as I have my choices ironed out.

Well, thanks for taking a look, here is a small shout out to everyone posting inspiring material and progress on this forum, it has been really helpful in keeping my projects moving along.

Well, It's been a while since I last made some progress thanks to finishing school and caring for a newborn, but I have returned with a couple small updates!

Disclaimer: Still trying to sort out proper lighting for my pictures. Talking potato quality here. This will get the point across until then.

First, I got a bunch of work done on my first venom. I believe with this venom I have hit the sweet spot with the mottled camo. Still a bit WIP, and the gunner and base still need paint, but I'm pretty happy with it.

Next, I pretty much finished up my first 3 reavers.

Next will hopefully be the finished venom, and I believe I will work on my wych squad next.

To do list:

Raider (built)
x10 wyches (built)
x5 warriors (built)
Succubus (built)
Archon (primed)
x3 Reavers (unassembled)
Venom (unassembled)

Thanks, it has been raining the past week so I haven't had a chance to get my wyches primed, but I did acquire a few things and assemble 10 more warriors.

Venom is almost finished, just need to paint the base and finish the rider.
