Hi All,

Just a quick question.

I don't have the Index yet but want to know whether <covens> can take Voidravens and Razorwings?

Not asking for any rules as that is naughty! Just want to know whether they can be taken.

Thanks in advance.

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you.

The flyers don't have the <covens> faction keyword.
But at the moment there's no reason to take an army that is entirely made up of covens units, mixing them with wych cult, kabal or incubi units doesn't remove anything. Unless you wanted to know if they benefit from the haemonculus' buff.

Coven can b.c its all DE... Thats like saying Scouts cant be in your SM army if you have a Storm Raven.

Voidraven's and Razorwings have the Kabal and Wych Cult keywords but not Haemonculus Covens. At the moment it doesn't matter since we don't have a DE codex but in the future who know's, there's a lot of questions over how the army will work in the codex with the worst case scenario being effectively splitting it into 3 separate armies+ unusable mercenaries.

Yep, that is what I was alluding to.

Hopefully that won't be the case where units are restricted to <kabal> etc.

Thats the hope. Drukhari are a decent army despite the fact that synergy is a foreign concept that wasn't even thought about when writting the Index list, so it leaves a nagging doubt that that will still be the case with a codex.

aren't fliers something that have their own detachment anyway?

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Fliers get their own detachment but Haemies grant toughess boons to [Coven] units, which DE fliers can never take advantage of. So if you wanted a coven list that leverages that extra toughness then fliers wouldn't be a part of that. But you could still take them in the flier detachment as they're still Drukhari.

Only if you want 3+ of them.

Fluff-wise it'd kinda make sense though. How's a Haemonculus going to toughen up a fighter jet?

Honestly, the book codex is coming out in the next like 4 months so hold off and slowly build your amry. It might save you a pretty penny!

This is my concern. I don't want to purchase units and assemble/paint them to find their options are invalid.

I have a Haemy, Wracks and Talos to put together so they should be safe bets for future proofing.

It's unlikely the Coven parts parts of the army will get worse given how toothless they currently are. Given that the trend in codexes has been to drop points even when they didn't need it, not increase them, I think it's safe to go with anything that is good now and hope that other stuff gets better to give us more options.
