Hi guys, I have caught the bug to start back into the LOTR SBG and was wondering about the availabilty of some of the older models.
Have GW every done a reprint of the older sets like Ambush at Amon Hen etc? I know alot of old 40k minis have been reprinted. Is it last chance to buy or something like that?
Do Warhammer World sell any additional minis beyond what is on the website? Not that far if they have a bigger range available.
Thanks for any help you can give!

I wouldn't rule out GW ever including them in the made to order sets they put up from time to time. However a sizable portion of the range is OOP and has been for some time. Outside of paying outrageous prices on eBay I doubt you will be able to find what you're looking for.
At one point there was a community that kept tabs on what in the range had gone OOP and what was still in print. I want to say it was The Last Alliance, but I just checked that site and its much different than I remember it.

They have done. Last year they brought back the scouring of the shire set and Gandalf the grey foot and mounted. I believe the general rule of thumb is if there aren't any new forge world releases in a month, they'll bring back an oop model. It's been stated that the middle earth team want a model available for every profile printed, old and new. Now that doesn't necessarily mean bringing back oop models, but new models will get released to cover old profiles.

I think the One Ring forum has something like that

I've been kicking myself that I didn't pick up any of the Wild Men of Dunland blisters whilst they were still in shops, hopefully they do a big run of OOP models when the new consolidated rulebook comes out.

Warhammer World has a ton of stuff, Final Fate of the Witch King, Defenders of Rohan, etc.
Yep, GW has stated that the goal is that all profiles will have an in-print model.
Several oop models have come back in print, such as Gandalf the Grey ft/mtd, Gothmog ft & mtd, Boromir ft & mtd, etc. Currently efforts are focused on Forge World new releases, but they were hiring for a moldmaker/caster for the Middle-earth team a little while back. Once can assume that is to bring back oop models.

If you take a look at the new battlecompanies book, any model referenced in it WILL be reprinted and re released.

Thanks for the responses.
Interesting to hear Warhammer World does stock more stuff. I live about an hour and a quarter away so a day out is quite possible.
Is the made to order scheme just random or do they take requests? Alot of interest in LOTR just now so might be worth badgering them to take advantage of the interest!

at the moment it seems random, they have however asked the community what they wanted to see for an aos order made to order, but I haven't seen anything for it yet

Made to Order would be a stopgap solution. We need models back in continuous print, not just a one-off order.

A million times this. Tired of hunting all around the internet/facebook/ebay to grab models I need to play. Usually at crazy prices. My FLGS used to carry it awhile ago. What I wouldn't give for the line to no longer be direct only

A lot of historical character minis and plastic box sets fit well with the scale and aesthetic of the LotR models. And if you hate plate-armoured Gondorians, possibly even better!
In metal, companies like Red Box and Hasslefree produce human, elf and dwarf fantasy figures that are relatively low-key and fit in perfectly. There are whole lines of older, smaller metal figures that are very characterful: lines like Ral Partha Europe's Gargantua Orcs, Denizen, Asgard (now owned by The Viking Forge) are still being produced

Yep, though Adam and Jay have said that the goal is every profile has a model in-print, but they are limited by GW release schedule and possibly SKU counts for the warehouses. You'll notice that individual Hobbit minis are being repacked in two-packs, this is to clear up space to allow for more SKUs to be stored. Additionally they are letting the box and blister branding run out, so everything is white box for now, as the newer packaging will be printed for the Middle-earth SBG branding (instead of a box of Wood Elves saying Lord of the Rings and right next to them Mirkwood Wood Elves saying The Hobbit)

I actually managed to pick up all the Wildmen I needed from eBay. They still show up there fairly regularly. Its actually been harder to find the standard Dunland warriors. I've still got to pick up a couple blisters worth of those to fill out my Dunland warbands.

That's pretty cool, ill take a look.
Dunland don't have a battle company in the new book though correct? They are not listed as being a faction within it on on the website entry.

Yup, there's a couple Battle Companies missing right now - Dunland and Khand are the biggies. Gundabad and Dale/Erebor are in Nov 2017 White Dwarf btw

Arnor is fieldable as a Battle Company at least, as warriors and rangers are in production.
But yes, the entire SBG community is very flustered at not only models being OOP but also so many are OOS. Apparently SBG and Battle Companies is a bigger seller right now than GW anticipated.

Damn I've been in an Ebay bidding war since you said this and have managed to secure 3 Dunlendings by paying over the odds including the cool sword pose guy! What do you do about the lack of poses though? There are only 4 and I presume you need around 9 for a Battle Company.
I might try converting some Gripping Beast Saxon slingers or some Corsairs of Umbar to fill out my band.

Heh. When I started playing 40K many years ago, I think there were only four poses for Space Marines with Bolt Guns, so having every single figure in my army being absolutely unique has never been a big issue for me. I've got a dozen of the GW Wildmen and I'm working on getting a dozen of the standard GW Dunlending Warriors. I've also got the captain and banner bearer, and that Wolf-watzizname that's the named hero for the Dunlendings.
