Subject: AM Orders Question

Hi guys
Quick question, I had an argument in a game about this recently. Can an AM order issuer (be it tank commander, company commander, special character, whatever) 'issue' an order to themselves? Or can they only issue orders to other units? Cheers

Through the rules...... technically yes
Although why you would order a single model unit is beyond me
Edit: How this works is that tanks commanders can issue one order to a friendly <REGIMENT> LEMAN RUSS. This would include itself because it has the keyword LEMAN RUSS, is the same <REGIMENT> and when it says friendly it also implies itself. (Aura rules cover this term of friendly and such to include oneself in the aura effect)
Orders state that they may only be issued to INFANTRY units within 6" with the same <REGIMENT> keyword as the unit. Now technically the commander has the INFANTRY keyword and is also the same <REGIMENT> as himself (Obviously). So by a technicallity of the rules, he can order himself to shoot harder. But like i said before, why would you order a one model unit?

Thank you, that's what I thought and what you said about it being like an aura made sense. It would come in handy mainly on a tank commander which was where the argument came up.

Why shouldnt a tank commander order himself ? A tank commander is a single model unit. An order is not an aura, but the wording of the rule and the keywords allow commanders to order themselves.

Not only that, but if you’re the last model alive why shouldn’t you be able to “order yourself” to do something extra.
I run a tank commander in a Tallarn Force that outflanks using the Ambush stratagem. It always orders itself the “Get Around Behind Them” Order to move back into cover (or behind a building) after shooting.

I should probably clarify that the single model unit i was thinking about was like the company or platoon commander
Forgot the Tank commander was also a thing

While rare I've had my Tempestor Prime locked in combat (Forgot with what... But he survived for a turn or two so probably guard or something) and since he was surrounded he couldn't fall back, so I had him order himself to "ready bayonets" to get some extra attacks in.
