I much prefer how the Windriders are leaning forwards on their nicer looking jetbikes and think they’d look sweet holding out laser lances. Anyone got any ideas on what I could use for the laser lances?

Thanks in advance

While I did a quick bash using some metal Shining Spears parts on the new bikes (didn't work out well, the torsos/arms won't match up well enough):

There are several things you'll need/want.

1) They have to look different. This, at the very least means different helmets. You can sort that out somehow, or make your own.
2) You can use any number of spears or techno spears, though the lances for the proper Shining Spears are great looking.
3) You can really go lazy and put some kind of lance-sheath down the nose of the jetbike and say they're stashed for traveling?
4) An equally lazy version might be a lance slung around their shoulders or back, or something of that sort, perhaps with a green-stuff strap?

They look pretty good, I like your scheme as well. Maybe I could buy a couple of boxes of the shining spears along with my Windriders. Expensive but I think it’d be worth it, and the new kits are rezin so they’d at least be a little easier to work with than metal. I’d probably just give them the helmets and the lances

Here's a conversion I did, splicing a windrider and shining spear. The biggest problem in the thing is: the legs for windriders aren't compatible with shining spear torsos by default. I chose to address this by cutting the torso of windrider and shining spear where the abdominal muscle meets the bulkier breastplate, gluing the windrider bottom half of the torso to the upper half of the shining spear torso. After that, the windrider left arm socketed into the shining spear torso easily enough, and it worked a charm.

You'll want to cut your windrider torso at a bit of an angle, so as to angle the upper torso upward lest your shining spears end up like my first batch did: nearly face planting their jetbike. You'll tread a narrow path between broken spine syndrome and facebiking, but the end result isn't terrible IMO.

Good stuff. Yeah I'd just change the heads to keep it as simple as possible. Use one lance arm from Spears (I got a hold of a conversion kit) and the other arm for the bike. Order a couple boxes of windriders to find a way to make 6 of these guys.

Would Dark Eldar scourge heads look utterly stupid? What about Dragon Blade heads (Old dragon princes of Caledor from AoS line)?

The problem with the Spears kit is that the head is attached to the torso and I want no part of detaching that or going full into a conversion like this.

Elbows, I really like this paint scheme. Especially the line on the helm it reminds me of old school wind riders

Nice kitbashes, they look great.

I don't think they particularly need different helmets. I mean, the silhouette of the official ones is pretty much the same as the standard Windrider helmet with just the extra faceplate detail to set them apart. Most alternative helmets people might use are going to differ a lot more from the official Shining Spear helmets than the Windrider ones do. If they've got a lance of some sort and especially if they're painted in their Aspect colours it's going to be pretty clear what they're supposed to be. I'm very much in favour of painting Aspect Warriors in shrine colours, so as soon as the jetbike is blue and white instead of green and covered with thorns (in the case of my Biel-Tan), it's obviously going to be a Shining Spear.

In terms of putting the lance on the jetbike body - you don't have to claim that it's stashed, you could say that the lance is actually a jetbike mounted weapon rather than a hand-wielded weapon - but I do prefer to see them with the laser lances in hand.

I haven't converted any myself yet, but I fully intend to use the standard Windrider helmets (maybe with some greenstuff work on the faceplate, maybe not), and a suitable lance bit. That's my main stumbling block at the minute, because I haven't been entirely satisfied with any of the options:
1) Get the laser lances off the official shining spears - these look good but it's expensive to buy the kit just to use a few pieces.
2) Use bright lances and suitable arms (e.g. Dire Avenger Exarch arms) - this achieves the 'laser' part of the laser lance, but personally I don't want them to look exactly the same as bright lances
3) Use fantasy lances (e.g. High Elves) - these look cool for the 'lance' part, but not really the 'laser' part. Could potentially say that this particular shrine has deliberately mocked up their lances to look like their distant ancestors' weapons or something like that.
4) Use 3rd party bits such as Puppetswar - these look good but they're just too long for my taste.
5) 3d print some. Haven't found any decent files so I'd have to take the time to design my own, or buy some from Shapeways or something.

I'll figure out a solution I like eventually.

I’m in the early stages of some conversions, and I’ve gone with drukhari heat lances (thanks eBay).
But I’ve also heavily modified the front of the bike. And I’m using howling banshee bodies & helmets for the ‘hair in the wind’ look.
And I don’t like blue and white- that’s for Dire avengers. These guys are gold and white. Because they’re shining spears.
