So,
At 12 years old I am a drunkard and hated by my family. I am forced to tend to my neighbors horses for a familial trangression. I slowly walk towards the pen and see a gigantic white beast … and I know immediately this beast is my brother.
I climb the fence to get into the pen and slowly walk towards this white giant, whispering ‘brother’ under my breath. I get within a few feet of him, and he nuzzles me. He then shoulders me to the ground and stomps upon my left arm, breaking it.
Eventually I get removed from the pen, and facing further familial troubles with a cast I am once again sent to tend to the neighbors horses.
I feed, water the fillies, and slowly walk towards the pen that holds the stallions – only to see the white again. Brother I whisper. I watch as he charges around the pen in anger and frustration about heing held so tight. I watch as from a distance as I once again climb the fence and enter the enclosure. I stand still, head down, arms low and whisper brother. Within a few moments the white is again by my side. I try to nuzzle with him, showing obesience and trust. Within a few minutes he again shoulders me to the ground – however this time he refrains from breaking a limb. He stands over me showing aggression. I slowly crawl to my feet – once again whispering ‘brother’.
Then … nothing long moments of nothing. He isn’t aggressive to me nor am I subservient to him. I realize at this point – we are brothers. He’s stronger physically, I’m stronger mentally.
I ask him to ride. I place no importance in breaking the steed or owning the steed – I once again repeat quietly under my breath ‘brother’.
And from that point – brothers we where. No one taking lead – no one being over the other. We ran across the steppes & plains as wild animals, hunting, killing and counting cou.
We ran across the next 4 years terrorizing our enemies, bringing death down to our enemies and hope to our peoples. We where WarThunder – the two made into one. And it was glorious … until the day he was killed beneath me. The day I became a member of the 5th legion. Everything before that is a dream - however it's a dream that I still long for, still want to be.
*** Edit ***
I still remember the wind on our hair, the joy in our hearts as we fought as one. We both were part of a two member tribe.
