The Harbinger Collection
A new age of darkness and despair is on its way in the Age of Sigmar. The armies of Death are on the move and none are safe. Malign Portents is the next campaign/expansion and it looks like we are going to be getting a slew of new models for it. We already got a bunch of new Nurgle stuff and we know that the Daughters of Khaine are around the corner. But this week’s new releases are the “Harbingers”.
Each grand alliance will get a profit and warrior for their respective armies. Let’s look at what each of these has to offer.
Lord-Ordinator
This two hammer wielding bad boy of thunder judgment is the grand alliance of orders harbinger and he is jam packed full of special abilities. First off he buffs nearby friendly war machines by letting them re-roll missed hit rolls of 1’s. Not too shabby.
On top of that, if he is your commander, he allows you to fire a single war machine twice in one turn. Set him up near some Dispossessed organ guns and unleash an ungodly amount of rerolling shots.
This guy is no slouch in close combat either, dishing out 5 attacks with the ability to deal an additional D3 mortal wounds if he rolls two 6’s is pretty nasty. Couple that with his above average wounding rolls, decent save and healthy wound pool, and you got yourself a nice deterrent for flankers going after your war machines.
He is a great addition to any gun line army that is relying on warmachines. Looking at you dwarves and freeguilds.
Darkoath Warqueen
This pissed off mother is a hero killing machine! Seriously, sick her on any enemy hero or monster you want to die because she gets to do double wounds to them and when she actually kills them her total number of attacks increases for the rest of the game. I guess running out of stuff to kill only makes her angrier.
Despite her killing ability she is a little squishier with only 5 wounds and a 5+ save. However, for every wound she takes she rolls a die and on a 6+ she negates that wounds and returns it to her attacker. Basically giving her a paper cut turns into a kick in the nads.
Putting this lady in charge and she will ensure your army is completing their charges. Her command ability allows all friendly Slaves of Darkness units within 12” to re-roll failed charges. Kind of limiting but I can complain because I personally have a massive Slave to Darkness army and she will be a great addition.
Knight of Shrouds
This cuddly bag of bones is actually pretty well rounded fighter. He can dish out some damage with his 4 above average hitting, wounding, rending, and two damage dealing attacks. He’s pretty survivable too boasting the same save and wounds as the angry lady above (who probably killed him in his previous life) but his save can’t be modified and he regains a wound every time he kills an enemy hero.
His command ability allows fellow Nighthaunt models that are within 9 inches to add one to their hit rolls. Overall he’s a pretty decent hero.
Fungoid Cave-Shaman
This madcap madman has a lot going on. First off he is the only harbinger that is a wizard and he gets his own special spell call the Spore Maw. This nasty little spell turns this nasty little guy into a walking bomb. With a casting value of 7, he deals D3 wounds to each unit within 6”. He can also increase his spell casting ability by eating a mushroom once per game which allows him to reroll failed casting and unbinding rolls. However he can’t cut you with his sickle (he can still bite though).
At first glance he seems like the softest of the bunch with only 4 wounds and 6+ save. However, he is too jacked up on shrooms to care about taking wounds. On a 5+ he ignores the wounds he takes. This even includes mortal wounds! On top of that he has a pet squiq that farts all over the place causing attacking models to hit at a -1 modifier.
This little guy is a pretty decent leader too. He lets a friendly Grot or Orruk unit within 18” to charge in the same turn they run. That will really allow a unit to cover some serious ground. Overall I really like this little guy. Set him loose in the middle of an army and let him keep cause some chaos!
So there you have it, the four harbingers of the coming dark times. Let me know what you think of them and if you are going to pick any of them up. I will probably get the Darkoath Warqueen as she will fit nicely into my Slaves of Darkness Army.
All of the rules for these models can be found on GW's website.

They're all very nice and awesome models!
I'm going to start with Shroud to kick off my Death army and pick up the engineer later and see what he can do with Overlords.
The last two I don't have armies for but that's what proxying is for.

Yea I think the Knight would be a really good start for a Death army.
I think its odd that the engineer is a Stormcast rather than say a dwarf or even human from the freeguilds. I don't think the Stormcast have any war machines, at least not yet. Maybe this is hinting to them getting some.

The Warqueen directly buffs my Slaves to Darkness, and aesthetically fits well with my Khorne Bloodbound. That was one of the easiest purchasing decisions I've had to make in a while.

Really dumb that some human is better at helping my warmachines than an actual dwarfen engineer.
Just feels like more attempting to push out older things and focus on the new. Grimm got killed and then his model was made redundant.

Yeah, a dwarf engineer might have been better(and making it mesh with the Hammerhal one would've been a neat idea) but this does make sense for a combat engineer that can carry vital construction information to the frontlines and not lose them upon dying while also fleshing out the Stormcast's other careers besides soldiers and errants which is good enough for me.
I'm really hoping we get to see the "Stormkeep" mentioned.
I look forward to an epic castle more than I do artillery (Bret fan in me talking :p ).

I didn't even think about the combat engineer/death aspect. Kind of makes sense. Still would have liked a dwarf better even though I have stormcast. lol
They have been pushing the warscryer citadel so they may use that for the "storm keep". I would like to see a non chaos castle though. I miss that old castle kit they used to have.

No rules on the web store as of yet. They should be up on the app this weekend, though.
