Oh I recall that from my beginnings in 6th (I'm such a greybeard, lol).
Now that I think about it, time boogey doesn't affect the Imperium so much. I mean they vape planets for way less than late tithes anyways so...
But still, if the time boogey is spilling into realspace, that's really bad news. Even if only localized in one period of time, that still raises questions.
Let's take the Baal rescue as the example, since it's the only one so far. The Great Rift happens, then the Indomitus Crusade. So that's been about a century already, so well past the Noctis Aeterna already. Then Baal Rescue happens, as part of the Indomitus Crusade either early on, late, or after said Crusade. But for Dante, it's only been a short time since the Rift. So one of two things happened, maybe both. The time around Guilliman sped up or the time around Dante slowed down. Maybe both, again, and this would explain the drastic time difference in realspace. And that's the nutzo part. Time dilation during warp transit only affects those inside the warp, time in realspace doesn't alter, only time in the warp. But here we have a documented case of time boogey in realspace that has affected perhaps two locations. Likely time was lost in transit to Baal as well and this may account for some of the discrepancy, but on the whole we have to assume time was affected in both locales.
So really, can the time boogey be said to have ended at any one given point since two separate time flows are proven to exist? We have the time flow around Guilliman, and it must be him because the Crusade takes him around the galaxy and so far hasn't changed, to our knowledge. So Guilliman is in one time flow. Baal, or perhaps Dante (remember Bobby promotes Dante) are stuck in a different time flow one presumably started by the Rift opening. This is fact. The events on Baal and the intervention of Guilliman prove irrevocably that the time flow on Baal, or around Dante, has been altered. Since the opening of the Rift directly precedes this event we must assume the Great Rift has altered the time flow in at least one place or around one person. So with two timelines in existence I find it hard to now say that the time boogey is over. In fact that should be caps'd. Time Boogey. There.
So how did Time Boogey begin? Well the event which seems to have sparked the Great Rift, which we must assume causes Time Boogey, was the shattering of the pylons on Cadia. So logically this destruction is what allowed the Rift to open and thus start the Time Boogey. I posit that the pylon system, on Cadia and throughout the galaxy, was an ancient safeguard against the opening of such a rift. Not big news there, but why would anyone have built them in the first place? 40k is not a setting of prevention, it's very much a post mortem analysis setting. This has happened before. Perhaps this is what caused the Age of Strife?
And if the Great Rift was opened and sealed once... Then Time Boogey has already happened once before already too!
This is literally the most groundbreaking event in the entire history of 40k and it is the most cunning business ploy written to date by GW. Bar none.
Why? Well simply put folks, Time Boogey is an open doorway through which ANYTHING may pass. Do you want to field the Emperor and all 20 Primarchs? How about Malcador or the Men of Iron? Want to see how a Sigmarite stacks up against a Primaris Marine?
Time Boogey folks. Time Boogey. Automatically Appended Next Post: Edit:. Yeah, sorry about that. Time Boogey turned out to be bigger than I thought at the beginning of the post...
