So it seems everyone prefers necromunda to the new armaggedon game
Curious as to why?
I used to enjoy necromunda back in the day, but being able to use other forces than just human gangs seems like it would be more fun for everyone
anyone care to break it down for me why necromunda is so superior?
Thanks

Actually, part of the point of Necromunda would be "you're all just playing regular lowly humans; not astartes, not aliens, not even actual soldiers: just regular guys".
That and the setting and campaign rules, which are the meat of it.

In my area, Shadow War is more heavily favored. Most people prefer being able to use models out of their own stash. Some want to use hive gangs, but overall we see quite a few players enjoying it.

Yeah its a definitely a case of wanting to use existing models more than anything else
i mainly play nids, and the idea of using warriors and a lictor vs gangs or squads other others seems awfully FUN (predator anyone?)
but i see alot of posts talking about how necromunda is the superior ruleset
so i thought i would ask
hell if i could port the nids over from shadow wars TO necromunda i could go that route
Automatically Appended Next Post: also i see after i posted this that this topic has come up a few times already lol so i am reading the other topics (oops)

I prefer shadow war. To me it is necromunda perfected, not to mention you can use your 40k units and terrain. It's not about super powered beings battling, as most characters in the game are the lowliest of their respective armies. Great way to get those units to the field and watch some of them progress and grow.
I also like the fan made content, like playing as black templar marines, etc.
More shadow war players around here too

I believe it comes down to the campaign system. Necromunda allows better progression over a decent period of time while SWA is more limited.

Shadow War was just a really pale product. Army lists were comically tiny, and there was no room for advancement beyond your 15 promethium caches, etc. I found it incredibly bland - I've got the new Necromunda rulebook but haven't bothered reading it yet. The planned support (and apparently dozens of damn books) mean you'll have a much lengthier term of interest in a game like Necromunda if they do it right.

Shadow War is very easy to get into, the rules are very solid, they are the original Necromunda rules. The campaign is OK, but not compelling. It's better than get-you-by, but it is not intending to make nameless, generic whatevers (CSM, Tyranid Warriors, Marine Scouts, Orks) into campaign characters. Again, it keeps it easy to do.
New Necromunda is very confined to the Underhive (so, gangs and scrubs). With a new alternating-action game sequence which I find more fun to play (and I am a huge fan of the old system). The campaign is much more involved than SW:A, but perhaps a bit less so than the original.
I haven't had a chance to play SW since 40K 8th came out, no opponents. I am playing in a Necro campaign. FWIW. SW with Necro's game sequence would be ridiculous fun.
