Looks awesome.

One thing people usually recommend is to mix up your heavy weapon teams, because those 3x lascannon squads are going to be prime targets for your opponents.

You could put them in the inf squads instead of the mortars.

Most people drop the vox casters as well (even though they are cool), just because 6x5 almost nets you another squad, and in the guard more is always better!

I would agree with the above post. Re-arrange the weapon teams to better protect your lascannons. Spreading two of those teams into your infantry squads will protect them better, and mortars can fire without los, so putting 3 in a squad behind los blocking terrain (if there is any) will be safer.

This is an army after my own heart!

For heavy weapons teams, I usually go the other way around: mortars in their own dedicated heavy weapons squads, lascannons in infantry squads. For one thing, like Coffee123 says, pure lascannon squads are prime targets. For another, mortars don't need line of sight, which means they can be hidden within or behind the largest piece of scenery you have. (So it's best not to put them in units that need line of sight or that may have to rush forward to seize objectives.)

If you field 3 x mortar squads (99 pts) and 6 x infantry squads with lascannons (390 pts) instead of those 3 lascannon squads and 6 infantry squads with mortars (534 pts), you free up 45 points. That's more than enough to add lascannons to your other two Russes. This means you have one less lascannon than originally, but two of your lascannons are now mounted on 12-Wound, T8, 3+ save models, instead of being super squishy.


Another thing. I think those infantry squads should have special weapons instead of vox casters. If you can free up the points for some flamers and plasma guns, it'll add a lot more punch to yor infantry.

Drop the Hellhounds for Rough Riders, or Scout Sentinals, and drop the Ratlings for Command Squads with moar lascannons.

I don't have any Rough Riders and I only have one Sentinal. I was trying to find a use for some of these old Chimeras... maybe Hellhounds are a bit costly, but.... Dunno. I want to model them.

They're a very short ranged unit in a very long ranged gunline with no means of advancing or support them and no means of delivering them for an outflank. It's a lot of points to tie up in that role, and you need more screens than unreliable ratlings.

I would also suggest trying to find the points for Pask, since you're already playing cadian. For only 10 extra points you get +1 bs, and +1 tank order.

My plan for the hellhounds was essentially using them as a screen. They are big pieces of cover that can block LOS and meet any infantry trying to smash into my gun line. They are also useful to clear alpha striking units after they’ve totaled a squad of infantry or heavy weapons teams. I do see that they aren’t really in the theme of this list, but I really don’t have other fast attack options for the army. I could forget using a brigade all together and put the points into another slot...

I should use Pask. I forget that way too often.

If you play competitively, having something that can scout and deny deepstrikers is really valuable. Like others have mentioned, the scout sentinels are good for that even though they might seem week compared to the armored sentinel.
Also, have you considered putting a plasma gun in thoes Lascannon squads? It's only 7points and together with the lascannon, provides a nice punch-package with 6 surplus wounds for only 67 points in total

Drop the ratlings; if you *need* snipers take sniper command squads since you have more than enough officers to unlock them.

4x Rerolling to hit snipers for 36 is ver' nice, and you could feasibly squeeze in another squad at the discount.


Some people find the idea that other people can be happy offensive, and will prefer causing harm to self improvement.
