Warception-A New Level of Wargaming

"When war is outlawed, only outlaws will fight wars"

In this utopian future, war-in all its forms-has been outlawed. Not just armed conflicts among nations, or internal rebellions and guerilla wars, but even violent sports and games have been made illegal.

Wait did we say utopian? We meant DYSTOPIAN!

Much history has been lost to censorship and thought police leaving only half-remembered legends and stories. To the gamers of this dystopian future Roman Legions, Samurai, Nazis, Chaos Demons and War Robots are all just part of that forgotten institutions known as war. Nonetheless they risk their lives and sanity for a chance to practice the outlawed hobby of wargames!

In Warception you play one of the outlaws who dares to defy the Lex Pax (law of peace) and continue to practice the forbidden hobby of wargaming. In the initial phase of the game you play a gamer who much evade the TASER and tranquilizer-armed Pacifiers with his contraband army and make it to the hidden gaming arena.

In the second phase your gamer must defeat his opponent in a no-holds-barred all-era all-genre wargame.

Then finally your player must once again evade the Pacifiers to return safely home.

With its unique mix of 54mm models (the gamers and Pacifiers) and 3mm models (representing the gamers' armies) Warception takes things to a whole new level. Since you do not control the actual army, but the player who controls the army, strategies will depend on your Gamer's ability to give the orders and the army's ability to execute them.

For example for Frank's Panzers to charge Bob's Carthaginian War Elephants requires not just checking the movement of the Panzer division, but also Frank's Aggression Score and Caffeine Level. For Bob's War Elephants to resist the charge you not only have to check their Defense Score but Bob's own Courage Score and Caffeine Level. For Bob's Fire Dragons or Battle Mecha to come and assist you will need to check both their Fellowship Scores and Bob's Awareness Score and Caffeine Level.

Then for the first and third phases you'll be controlling the player's directly as their Evasion and Hand-To-Hand Scores as well as their remaining Caffeine Levels become essential to avoid being captured and lobotomized in the Pacifiers' Reeducation Camps!

Each starter set comes with a paper mat with both the outer world and game arena, two 54mm player models (Frank and Bob), two 54mm Pacifiers and a random mix of 144 3mm models. Stretch Goals include new Gamers (such as Sally, Pedro and Akira) as well as adding new 3mm army units (such as the 82 Airborne, Banshee-Class Orbital Satellites and Peasant Levies). Potential expansions include adding a painting phase where you must scrounge for paint sets while evading Pacifiers and carefully husband your Gamer's Caffeine Levels while speed painting your army.

Warception! War on a whole new level!

Personally I can't wait. I've not been so excited since I was able to play RC Cars on my Super Nintendo!

I have been following this. It looked cool until I read about the mechanic where Bob and Frank have a mini battle about whether the 3mm female minis are appropriately dressed for battle or that the boobs are way too big and unrealistic. I think this whole sub mechanic is unrealistic and does not accurately reflect gamers who are largely above such petty disagreements.

I also found Bob's 3mm porn collection and the distraction factor of Frank's mom continually calling every d6 rounds un-needed. It will probably be a safe pass for me.
