I want to paint a DP in the "classic" red and black paint scheme:
Like this:

However, I don't want it to look so much like Khorne. I plan on putting a bit of corrosion on the gold trim.
Is there anything else I can do to invoke the other alignments?
Maybe start with purple and paint up to red? That way it is less Khorne red, and more Slaanesh/Khorne red.
Maybe highlight the armour blue at the very edges too?

Any other suggestions like that?
Thanx

Hmmm... I don't think that DP looks too Khornate. It just screams black legion to me. Your idea for the purple-red transition seems a good one.

Thanx, I am definitely going to do the purple/red transition.
I actually agree that the classic DP scheme does look Black Legion, but the pure red skin just screams Khorne to me, but I think with the purple/red transition, the aqua/green corrosion on the gold(copper?) trim and the blue highlights on the edged of the black armour, should combine to create an affect of no particular alignment, but potentially any.

I also don't want it to look like any particular CSM legion either, but to be evocative of several.
This particular DP is for my existing collection of "All CSM legions" project:
http://glennsgwmodels.blogspot.com/2017/11/chaos-marine-project.html
I am also working on a single Daemonette, Bloodletter, Plaguebearers and a base of Horrors.

I don't have plans to expand farther than the DP and 4 lesser Daemons for Chaos, since those are all units in the CSM codex and Daemons in general have such a wide variety of models that it would be impractical/expensive to get "one of each Troop + a special" in the same way as I've done for CSM and Marines.
So for now, I am keeping it to the CSM dex.

All I have left are some Cultists, which my LGS keeps being out of stock. I'll have to actually order them, I guess.

Oh, it's you! I follow your blog but didn't realise it was you I was talking to. I really like the All CSM legions project and hope the DP turns out well (I should have checked your sig!)
I wonder if sticking to the scheme in that image is the way to go? I would go for a colour scheme that blends a few colours together, and put an icon of each god somewhere on the model.

Oh thanx for following!

I actually have the 4 Icons on my CSM magnetized. I was thinking of putting a magnet on the DP to be able to swap them out.

Overally I do want the paint scheme to be very similar to the classic red, black and gold DP, but I want to subtly infuse some extra color to it.

I also intend on magnetizing a Defiler mask onto it, just because it'd look cool

Very nice. I'd say it'd work for everything but Nurgle, and it's a great interpretation of the classic colour scheme.

Take a look at what I've been painting and modelling: https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/725222.page

Thanx. I took a few pictures of the DP with models from each "alignment" and it doesn't seem too out of place for Nurgle, particularly because of the corrosion of the armour

the basing and swappable icons go a long way too. Nice work.

That looks great! I particularly like the flaming icons.
