I am interested to know what people think of the legions in 40k. What is your favourite?

Why Aye Ya Canny Dakkanaughts!

World Eaters with Night Lords being a close second.

World Eaters are just a fun army full of maniacs that throw themselves at the enemy in anger. Plus, the Horus Heresy series really fleshed Angron and Kharn out nicely, making them more tragic-honourable warriors than just 1D killing machines.

Night Lords come in a close second just for the cool factor.

There are no loyal legions in 40K, just chapters.

I voted Death Guard. I like their theme, a kind of zombie-space Marines, but mixed with WW 1 style chem-weapons, german Pickelhauben but also grim reaper elements from the middle ages. Also Nurglings are cute. And I like the body horror about them, not so much the tentacles of the new minis but the deseases and guts hanging out and that stuff. Pretty gruesome.

I like Space Wolves. I like the fluff and most of the models. Sadly other people don't...

None of them. Space Marines are the worst part of the setting.

I only like Space Wolves among power armor guys. And SoB too.

Mostly because SW look like pagan and not ancient roman, they also don't have that religious fanatism that other chapters seem to have. I love the viking theme.

But most importantly, they're not GW poster boys

Space Marines can't be the worst part of the setting because Eldar are busy being the worst part of the setting!

As for the OP, Thousand Sons for sure. I have an affinity for "undead Egyptian" factions, apparently.

I voted for Thousand Sons (obviously), but for their fluff and look, not how they're represented on the TT. I just love Rubrics and Scarab Occult Terminators, but right now the more you take in your army, the weaker it gets...

Black Templars.

And before you say ‘legions’ they are closer to legion strength than any of the other loyalist chapters.

Hey, don't leave us Tau and our Gundams out!

As Xenos filth, I admire the Space Wolves most. I like their origins and the looks of their models.

#1 Awesome paint colors of black and gold.
#2 Pick the Chaos God and Cult Marines you feel like for the day.
#3 Absolutely no chance of wondering when your Daemon Primarch model is coming out.
#4 Choose your own warband fluff. As long as they really hate the Emperor and don't mind Abaddon it probably works.
#6 Did I mention the awesome paint colors?
#7 One of the more Terminator heavy traitor legions.

I love the necrotic, cancerous look to the Death Guard so I decided to play them. Immediately I found that win or lose I had an army now that i enjoyed painting and playing with. The other element that grabbed me was how I envisage they wage war. It's not bombing the cities from orbit with huge great cannons but deploying huge amounts of biological and bacterial weapons into the atmosphere. Sit back and let it do it's job for a few days before you deploy your troops. The surviving military will put up a fight but they are nothing before the assault. Where I see other traitor legions and warbands just slaughtering their way through I see the Death Guard differently. I see the dying, pestilence-ridden survivours begging for release. I see a plague marine snatch up such an Imperial citizen, corruption spreading from his very touch - flesh turning necrotic as veins of ashen putrification spreads through veins and muscles - and in that few seconds you have the choice to die in wracking pain or give yourself to the plague god, knowing that it's a path you can never come back from.

That's why I play Death Guard.
