The rule books in our local group and gaming store are a mix of english and german (localized) version.
I personally try to stick with the english versions, especially now that GW decided to not translate names of most units and certain weapons and abilities. This just leads to a very weird mix of english and german in the localized german codizes.

However the real trouble is, when the translation goes ahead and changes the rules completely!
Now you have one rule in the english version of the codex and one in the localized version saying two different things.
Obviously if you only own one or the other, you would never know.
Only if you get to compare the two does it become apparent that something is wrong.

I have come across this several times, here are two examples for the german literature:
1. Summoning deamons, from the Chaos Space Marines codex:
In the english text it states that the summoned unit must be 'wholly' within 12" of the summoning character.
This bit is missing in the german version. The wording there is the same as with any aura ability, stating that the unit must 'within 12" of the character". This would allow the Chaos player to place one model in 12" and then basically congaline the rest of the models across the field to wherever he wants them to be.

2. The Eldar 'vorwarned' stratagem:
The german text states, very clearly, that the unit coming in from reserves which you want to shoot at has to be 'within 6" of one of your eldar units, which is itself within 6" of a farseer".
Does this make sense to you?
Obviously there almost no units that can deepstrike within 6" of an enemy to begin with. And if they knew about this stratagem, they would never do this. This version of 'Forwarned' is completely useless.
In this case I had bought the german codex and got very confused when everyone online was praising this stratagem as the ultimate broken thing in the book.
Only when I got a hold of an english codex from.. sources.. did the error become clear.
How did they even get it this wrong? I have no idea.

Now to add insult to injury, these kind of llocalization errors seem to get never FAQed. The Eldar one for example has been in the german Craftworlds codex since release and has not since been mentioned.
Are there lots of local german groups playing Eldar wrong? Probably... how would they know?

How would you deal with this?

How do you tell someone that their codex is wrong?
They have the codex, hardcover, bought from GW and all you have is some sketchy download on your phone, in english (which they might not be proficient in).

Do you have more examples like this? Is there a knowledgebase for this kind of thing, as GW apparently does not care?

Imo English rules take precedence.

Every translation error is stuff for the German erratas, and is indeed fixed.

Seite 118 – Vorgewarnt
freundeten <Craftworld>-Farseer befindet .“

feindlichen Modellen entfernt befindet.“

I really don't know where you've been looking up your FAQs/Erratas.

I have been looking on the GW main site, under search term Errata.
By the way the layout there has changed recently, as the last time I looked at it in february it linked to a list of documents ordered by game, all on one page, without the icons of each army shown.

Edit:
The reason seems to be that it now it brings up a link to the -community domain. That wasn't the case before, the faqs were on the GW main page. Apparently the -community has more and newer FAQs...

This adds another point to my list, as I have a document downloaded from this page on 2017-12-11, named V1.0 which does not contain the corrected stratagem.
Yet on the page it says the version is updated 2017-12-04 and it does contain it.
Probably why I did not update that specific one.. soo I guess you have to redownload all of them in case they are newer than stated?
It should be easier to keep track of updated errata in this format, but then I have the errate but they don't:
How do I tell someone their codex is wrong? I find it hard to get this concept across to people.
