Discussion came up over whether a Chapter/Company Ancient gets to fire/fight again on a 4+ when they die, as they're in range of their own aura, but also dead.

I make it that they do get the chance as it's "before the model is removed" or similar wording. Thought, peeps?

A little hypocritical of you to denounce me for making the exact same type of question thread, not 20 hours before making this one, don't you think? https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/755446.page#9942061

However, to answer your question, yes, the Ancient will benefit from it's own aura. The rule explicitly states the attack happens after it's destroyed but "before removing the model as a casualty", so it's still around for the aura to affect it.

It was a genuine question based on a game played, and it's not remotely hypocritical. You made a thread based on whether "instead" and "alternatively" mean different things; this is about a rules interaction so is *entirely* relevant for YMDC.

Thanks for the answer, though. It's what I thought, and will make my opponent wince a little more! Them Ancients are rather effective!!!
