I play Khorne - nothing more, nothing less. I also prefer very little to no firepower. Khorne says ranged combat is for cowards and he blesses his devout followers with bloody victory. I organize my army in units of 8 or their multiples, I run only Khorne units, and I avoid ranged combat. In exchange, Khorne blesses my dice.
25 Bloodletters deep struck on turn 3. Bloodslaughterer died on turn 2 and never did anything.
I deployed 10 bloodletters far on each flank. I put 3 rhinos in the center of my deployment and put the Bloodthirster there, too. I put the hounds in front of the demon prince on my left flank and the bloodslaughterer even further to the left.
My opponent gave me the first turn because he wanted me to move into charging range. I don't know if that was an unwise decision on his part or not. He has very little long-range firepower.
Everything moved forward. My rhino on the right flank moved too close to his helbrute and was charged the next turn. My rhinos split up, 2 on the right, 1 on the left. On the left my bloodthirster joined the rhino. The hounds headed towards my center with the rhino and thirster. My prince and bloodslaughterer headed to a position to charge turn 2.
He shot stuff on his turn. He killed 6 of the 8 hounds. He miscasted on his demon prince's smite. I dispelled his sorcerer's smite. He almost killed my rhino and then did kill it with the helbrute in the fight phase. He severely hurt my bloodslaughterer, bringing it to 2 wounds left, which became 3 on my turn. He did a wound to the bloodthirster. He moved his poxwalkers to where my bloodthirster wanted to go and now I had no good places to go with the thirster.
On my turn 2, from left to right... My 10 bloodletters charged his blight hauler on a hill where they fought for the entire game doing nothing. My blood slaughter and demon prince charged 7 plaguemarines. My hounds charged his sorcerer. My exalted champion charged his plague surgeon. My khorne berserkers charged his pox walkers... they were in the way and there was no other way through. My bloodthirster flew to the right flank and charged his plague drones and blight hauler (the other one). The khorne berserkers that had their rhino blown up charged the helbrute. The other berserkers got out of their rhino and charged the plague drones with the bloodthirster. The 10 bloodletters on the right flank just moved forward.
In the fight phase... my demon prince killed all 7 plague marines and my blood slaughterer was stuck out of combat without having done anything and died in the next turn. In hindsight, I should've charged his demon prince with my demon prince (I keep forgetting wings let me charge over units) and then stuck the slaughterer in with the marines alone. The berserkers kill the pox walkers and moved into the other plague marines and the plague surgeon. The helbrute was killed. The blight hauler and 2 plague drones survived against the bloodthirster and berserkers, though they took heavy damage and would die in the next fight phase.
On his turn 2, pretty much everything was dead or in combat. But Death Guard is wicked. He killed my blood slaughterer with his plague crawler. Using Nurgle's Rot and a smite (didn't dispel it this time) he killed all the berserkers in combat with his plaguemarines. He only had 1 marine left with a power fist in his second squad.... and now all of the berserkers were dead, leaving my Demon prince and champion alone. He charged and killed my demon prince with his. My exalted champion killed his demon prince! He deep struck his terminators and terminator lord separately and into poor places. He had no where useful to go. I had pushed so far into his area that he could not even fit in his own deployment zone. His blight drone flew out of combat and sniped my dark apostle from an inch away. My bloodthirster and zerkers killed the hauler and moved forward. His terminators took pot shots at the rhino and then I deep struck my bloodletters down and slaughtered them. My zerkers rushed his terminator lord. They failed their 8" charge twice, but he said "screw it" and picked them up and placed them in close combat. I assumed he was ready to end it, but when I killed his lord in melee before he could fight back he was disappointed and said "I shouldn't have given you that charge." I was like... yeah, duh!
