Sounded like it from the trailer anyways. I wouldnt mind a stand in singer as long as his singing is spot on or at the very least close enough for live singing. Ive seen a couple singers on tv that would fit the bill. As long as the lipsinging is up to snuff really....I like that movie Rockstar but there were times you could tell Mark Walhberg was totally lipping it up and it looked bad
From what I’ve seen it will be a blended mix of Mercury, the actor, and a stand-in. I’m guessing they need Mercury, because he’s got the range he’s famous for, but they also want the actors speaking voice to at least be somewhat recognizable in the singing. So blending the parts together would be the best way to achieve that. I don’t know if that’s what we hear in the trailer or not.
But sometimes actors can surprise us as well. Phoenix as Johnny Cash as an example.
Freddie Mercury could sing a tonal range from the edge of soprano to bass, quite extraordinary, they would have to search far and wide to find a voice mimic.
However with the large volume of digital recording of Freddie's singing I have no doubt his voice could be synthesised flawlessly.
n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.
It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. By the juice of the brew my thoughts aquire speed, my mind becomes strained, the strain becomes a warning. It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion.
They would have to look far and wide to find a person who could match him.
With that being said, I understand if they have to use somebody else to sing in the movie. Just for the realism. I mean, it won't be as good. It cannot be as good. But it is one of those things that is necessary.
Really looking forward to the movie. Huge Queen fan. The guy playing Brian May looks fething great.
