Hail, fellow member of the 10.000!

I like the idea of your list.. Telemon has caught my eyes as well.. hoping to field him one day and deepstrike him.. I think thought that your not right in the points cost in regards to the Telemon..

Futher more.. You need more bodies.. I would swap out a few Allarus for regular Custodian Guard to stand ready for a (counter) charge on your walking castle of Telemon and one of the Achillus dreads.. the other Achillus and two sets of Allarus could deepstrike.. so perhaps switch to a batalion.. you got more CP's that way and more bodies..

Good luck running your list!

Couple of queries about this one:

1: Do you feel the Telemon is worth it? I'm not criticising, I'm genuinely curious as I've yet to hear if it's any good or not.

2: I agree with the bloke above me in that while your guys are very, very tough, you only have 13 troops and 5CP. Even by Custodes standards this is pretty low and leaves you vulnerable to getting swamped by hordes.

Big fan of the fluffy theme and the inclusion of the Telemon. I use one myself with 2 Culverins to put out some anti-armour shots at what I think is a reasonable points cost considering the durability etc.

I agree that the low model count is an issue and would suggest dropping a few Allaurus squads for cheaper wardens to fill out the army.
Also, have you thought about using Vertus Praetors and maybe a Shield-Captain on Bike - I find them amazing and they provide more support against mobs with their hurricane bolters?

Dakka Telemon is actually cheap, doesn't look like it should be, but it is, the total points cost of the guns is only 105, and the rocket launcher on its head is free. Not to mention running it this way provides 21 reasonably powerful shots in a turn, if it stands still, 26. I planned this out half asleep as a character killing army, essentially using the Allarus Custodes natural ability to hunt characters, and the Vexilla to lower the chance of shots hitting while the Vexilla, Warlord, one unit of Allarus Custodes, and an Achillus Dread charge important back line units. The bulk of the force would footslog with heavy fire support from the Telemon, since Custodes are criminally lacking a unit that can provide heavy weapon support in the scale the Telemon can, and if I could run two, or even three, I would. This is essentially to counter other elite armies, and armies based around powerful characters to neutralize those buff-giving units.
Custodes were never meant to fight hordes on the tabletop, their numbers are too few, except they are larger than all of the SM chapters, and the army relies too heavily on their armor and invuln saves that wane under weak high volume fire. Even in the lore they have trouble with being overrun, one bit with them against Tyranids after a days long defense left one Custodian Warden standing on the brink of death.

In a competitive army, yes I would put in the damn jetbikes, though I hate the fact they are required for the Custodes to be any good. I have a list with shield-captains on jetbikes, and guard for numbers on the table, even a recent list with the Telemon. I just like the fact that the Custodes get the Terminators all the other SM should have, and rub it in their faces when I use them to stomp Girlyman and still lose laughing hysterically.

Yes, the Telemon is worth it at its points cost, if you built it all melee and deepstrike it people not wearing brown pants are immediately embarrassed. On the flip side if you built it all dakka, it makes for a phenomenal heavy fire support vehicle for your criminally lacking heavy fire support at the points cost. The dakka Telemon is cheaper than a unit of Custodian Guard, and fires more shots in a turn, plus it is pretty tough, and if you sit it behind a screen of storm shield guard, people rage out loud, unless they have anti-tank, which is the first thing I target with deepstriking and the Telemon itself.

The army itself is an elite army counter I created half asleep, and posted without any context because of the half asleep thing. It isn't meant to be competitive, as the lack of the damn jetbikes shows, and is simply used to kill high value targets quickly.

Your fellow members of the 10,000 salute your sporting endeavor. I also try to build my custodes list to not be a horrifying mess to play against since jetbikes are such a top tier choice. Though I feel like my dakka Telemon and a caladius in the same list is anti-armor punishment on a level people aren’t expecting

Also might be worth taking the relic spear on a captain due to low model count. I have a feeling the rapid3 bolter overwatching on 3+ can cover some of the shortfalls of your low model count

"You are free, Leman Russ of Fenris, because your freedoms match the emperor's will. For each time I wage war against worlds that threaten the Imperium's advance, there comes another time I am told to conquer peaceful world's that wish only to be left alone. I am told to destroy whole civilizations and call it liberation. I am told to demand millions of men and women from these new worlds, to make them take up arms in the Emperor's hordes, and I am to call this a tithe, or recruitment, because we are all too scared of the truth. We refuse to call it slavery.' 'I am loyal, the same as you. I am told to bathe my legion in the blood of innocents and sinners alike, and I do it, because it is all that's left for me in this life. I do these things, and I enjoy them, not because we are morale, or right - or loving souls seeking to enlighten a dark universe - but because all I feel are the Butcher's Nails hammered into my brain. I serve because of this "mutilation". Without it? Well, perhaps I might be a more moral man, like you claim to be. A virtuous man, eh? Perhaps I might ascend the steps to our father's palace and take the slaving bastard's head"

Possibly, I simply decided on the Obliteratum for my Vexilus since the terminator variant gets no weapon but the grenade launcher and figured since I would rarely put him into melee that I would give him a harder hitting ranged option. The only other thing I can think of, is giving him the Imperius version of the Vexilla so all those units get an extra attack in melee, including himself, that would be an extra 6 attacks if I kept to the Warlord, Vexilus, a single Allarus unit, and an Achillus. They are tough as it is, and one of them will get into melee after deepstriking, so having the -1 to enemy shooting might not be as useful as an extra attack for the unit.

i had missed the obliteratum relic. it's a cool idea and could really mess someone up i like it
