These are the two armies I collect. Played some out of the index’s with both armies but haven’t played for awhile and have not bought the codex for either.I don’t have time to play both but struggling to decide which codex to pick up because I like them both equally.
So who got the stronger codex? Thanks in advance.

The Necron codex is good, but not top tier, and has a pretty wide variety of ways you can play it.

The Space Marine codex is mediocre, with a couple strong builds that amount to basically "play a gunline or else feth you".

I'll admit my bias but I think if you like both armies equally Necrons are better on the tabletop right now.

I would go necrons, especially if you don't want to use allies or forge world to help you win games.

My only concern about necrons is since they took away guass wounds everything on 6”s the army seems like it lacks anti tank weapons. Am I wrong?

Well, everything in the game now wounds everything on 6s, so that isn't really a big issue. And destroyers /heavy destroyers are supposed to be very good. Id look at the Necron tactic threads or codex reviews for a better idea of how they work. Things are definitely different but still generally good afaik.

Everything wounds everything on a 6 (or better), so the Necrons instead have a -1 AP base for their Gauss weapons, which is pretty dope.

The Doomsday Ark and Destroyers (regular ones, not the Heavy D) are you anti-tank options. The DDA was buffed significantly in the codex so it actually serves its advertised function now, and Destroyers got a stratagem with which they annihilate pretty much anything you point them at.

Necrons are pretty good and easy to paint. It's a cool army that I just refuse to get into - not because I don't like them but because I can't afford to start another army.

I would highly advise against space marines. They sure look cool but GW makes them suck intentionally because they are THE starter army.

If we fail to anticipate the unforeseen or expect the unexpected in a universe of infinite possibilities, we may find ourselves at the mercy of anyone or anything that cannot be programmed, categorized or easily referenced.

I don’t have any doomsday’s or destroyers. I do have a few ghost arks I could proxy as dooms days ( I guess opponent willing) I will have to give it a try. Destroyers are out of stock and going for 75+ dollars on eBay for a box of 3. Will have to keep an eye on them I guess......thanks all.

Destroyers is a must have. I Saw a couple of necrons battle reports and they seems cool and works perfect. Easy to paint yes.

About SM I think they Will be "fixed" some day.

SM or Necrons? Now Necrons.
