Disclaimer: I hate resin.

Other Disclaimer: I have an unreasonable obsession with finding and making an old Eldar superheavy tank...like the ugly resin Armorcast ones.

I mean the Eldar Tempest. Precursor (more or less) to the current Scorpion.

NOT MINE - JUST A PHOTO SAMPLE

In all its awful glory. However, I'm just jonesing to take a crack at a mega-rescue. Bringing this old resin beast up to date with some heavy surgery. Luckily the cheapest one I see is $80+ which is more than I'm willing to drop on an evening's whim. Talk me out of it. More importantly, does anyone have a 2nd edition datafax for this bad boy? I have one, but it doesn't look legit. If I don't run it as a Scorpion I'll make up my own stats for the actual Tempest itself (should be easy, a few weapon swaps, etc.).

Anyone have experience with it? It's literally like four pieces so I think even I could handle it.

Man, don't. Just...just don't. I can't think of anything more articulate, but it simply doesn't look close to being a worthwhile use of time.

I have to disagree. I love seeing the old Armorcast stuff revitalized and made to look new.

Depends on your Grognard Factor, really.

Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k.                                                                                                       Rule #1

Right now it's in my "if I stumble upon it cheap enough it'll happen". It hasn't moved to "make it happen, regardless of budget!".

I am looking at stuff like creating or molding new laser barrels - perhaps using a new current turret (the Fire Prism turret is surprisingly large). I'd be adding shuriken catapults to the actual nubs on the front (they're supposed to be shuriken catapult ports). I'd probably add random modern engine bits and various bits from the Eldar vehicle line.

I admit I'm a bit dubious...but the grognard/rescuer in me is really leaning.

Well I bought a armorcast titan recently..
Really love it, looks very goofy though lol. I am big on 90s models so I am very happy to finally have one after dreaming about it from childhood times.

Eldar next!
You wont stumble upon it cheap, because I will be there to bid moahahahhah.

Yeah, there are some at "decent" prices, but a cursory search shows a few selling at really good prices. I'll just be looking out for a bit. I do have other stuff to paint!

Do it! I've got several of the old Armorcast Ork vehicles and I didn't regret buying one of them. I'm wavering right now over an Epicast Ork Drop Pod (aka a tin can with fins).

On the other hand, mine were ORK vehicles, so being clunky and charmless is expected.
