Finally I have just finished three drop pods that have taken me the best part of two months to complete. These new orbital insertion vehicles will be dropping my Flesh Tearers Space Marines exactly where they need to be.... right in the heart of the enemy force. Whilst it’s taken comparatively ages for me to assemble and paint these models they have actually been in my plastic pile for 14 years!! Agh.

Overall I really haven’t enjoyed these models; they are laborious to paint; a nightmare to assemble and overly fragile; in fact this isn’t least favourite modelling project of recent years! That being said I am happy that they are now complete and I look forward to dropping them right into my mate’s deployment area next time we play.

There’s a little bit more detail on my blog:

Great work. I normally prefer a bit more "burn" on my drop pods. The only thing that looks a tiny bit off...is the rather clean/bright aquilas. Great paintwork though, smooth and precise. They look superb as a group.

That's a nice set of pods, you are not wrong that they are a real pain in the ass to assemble and paint, so kudos for such a good job on three at once !

Cheers guys

Yeah I didn’t want to over weather them which I have done before on vehicles and they’ve ended up looking like they were made from scrap.

These are horrible to assemble... just horrible!!

Anyway back to my favourite now; infantry.

Fantastic work, excellent accuracy and weathering. May I ask which red paint this is in particular?

That's some real hobby love right there. Inspirational!

I tend to agree with your approach to minimizing the burn effects on these. (I think most of us are much better served by dialing down the weathering in general.)

Man, the outsides look great, but the interior is inpirational. Great job!

Thanks Guys!! Greatly appreciated!

The Red is plain old Khorne Red... but the trick is I highlight it with Cadian Fleshtone which really tones it down compared to a traditional red or orange highlight.
