I'm prepping for my first time at BAO and have been trying to make final tweaks to my list to handle that higher tier of competition. I've been running the first list, but two other deathwatch players recommended I swap some models for a Redemptor Dreadnought in order to get more access to non Str4 shooting. I was wondering if people could advise me if it's a good idea and waht other changes I could make to help the list perform:

My general goal is to kill the biggest things on the board while holding as much board space as I can. I only have a couple weeks to build/paint models and won't have access to most forgeworld due to shipping times, but can anyone give me a guide which list to go with? Any advice on improving the list?

First, try to condense the list a bit so you get an overview without scrolling.

Are you going Mono Deathwatch? Becasue i'm not convinced that will be able to handle top tier?

If i were to do 2000pts of pure Deathwatch without doing too much research i would probably do something like this.

HQ
Watch Captain: Thunder Hammer, Storm Shield, Dominus Aegis
Watch Master: TotE, LoHK

Troops
5x Intercessors Bolt Rifle, 5x Aggressors AutoFragStorm

I'd drop the flamestorms. They have never performed well in any competitive game I've seen or played (only tried them once but that 8" range is terribad.)

For a competitive army the primaris dread is really bad.

With all the DE running around I'm thinking something like:

There's some points floating around in there to change things up a bit. If you are close to the north bay there's a small tourney on Saturday in Fairfield that should be fairly competitive if you want to come try out what you have (no painting/basing requirement if you still have last minute work to do for BAO)...

10 veterans, stormbolters & chainswords is the basic core

swap in a terminator or two and a vanguard vet.

Stormbolters get SIA, for 4 pts. it's just absolute carnage.
