The point of this army is to get up close and personal as quick as possible, using Blood Claws to cap points while the cav harasses and protects them. This is my first time building SW and it's been a while since I played, so I appreciate any CC!

Got an annoying neighbor or a deadly rival you want to get rid of? Take 'em to Mechavelli's Lobotomizing Emporium and have your problems solved!

Well to be honest its a bit unbalanced. I dont know why you have started it as Unbound for one, when making a Patrol Deatchment will give you 3 CP's to use. Your Thunderwolves will be under a lot of pressure in a game at this level, as anything with any sort of AP will hurt them as they dont have an invul. You have no anti tank to speak of other than your Wolf Lord. 600Pts of Custodes can include a dreadnaught and the -1 to hit at range Vexilla which would munch though your force in short order. Hell they can take a unit of bikers which are enough on thier own to shred your Thunderwolves in one turn.

Perhaps try something a little more like this?

++ Patrol Detachment (Imperium - Space Wolves) [35 PL, 600pts] ++

+ HQ +

Wolf Lord on Thunderwolf [8 PL, 130pts]: Krakenbone Sword, Plasma pistol, Storm shield

+ Troops +

Grey Hunters [6 PL, 91pts]: 4x Chainsword
. Grey Hunter Pack Leader: Chainsword
. 4x Grey Hunter w/Bolt Pistol
. Grey Hunter with Special Weapon: Bolt Pistol, Plasma gun

+ Fast Attack +

Thunderwolf Cavalry [16 PL, 257pts]
. Thunderwolf Cavalry: Chainsword, Storm shield
. Thunderwolf Cavalry: Chainsword, Storm shield
. Thunderwolf Cavalry: Chainsword, Plasma pistol
. Thunderwolf Cavalry: Chainsword, Plasma pistol
. Thunderwolf Cavalry Pack Leader: Plasma pistol, Thunder hammer

+ Dedicated Transport +

Razorback [5 PL, 122pts]: Storm bolter, Twin lascannon

++ Total: [35 PL, 600pts] ++

You have a little anti tank with the Twin Las Razorback, a Plasma Gun in your Grey Hunters and free Chainsword for all (Far superior to blood claws for that reason IMHO). Your Wolf Lord is running a Plasma Pistol, SS and Krakenbone Sword, and you have 2 SS in the Thunderwolves. There is also a thunderhammer and 3 Plasma Pistols in there, meaning your have a ranged threat alongside your melee threat. With acess to 3 CP's, you can always outflank the Grey Hunters to come on near an objective and then run your Cav around while leaving the Razorback at home to take pot shots at what it can. If you keep the Wolf Lord next to the Cav you also have re-rolls for overcharged plasma, which is nice!

There are quite a few ways to play it, such as taking a Wolf Lord on foot with some Hellblasters for a big threat, using a Wolf Priest on bike near your Thunderwolves for healing etc...

7th ed man, read the title....

Use the formation, its a wolf lord, thunderwolves and grey hunters. stick the wolf lord on thunderwolf mount, put the grey hunters in a drop pod and hit them from front and back... the formation bonus basically allows an additional move in the shooting phase if within 12" of the wolf lord iirc

I think the phrase I am looking for is D'oh. Resons to not post on Dakka before your coffee has kicked in first thing! I did think that the Wolf Lord was a bit expensive!
