Once Kill Team information started coming out, I wanted to make a few Kill Teams out of my current miniatures. However, I knew I would want to make an Ork Kill Team, but I don't have that many Orks, and certainly not enough to make a decent/fun team. After I got my copy of the rule book, I delved into what minis I would need to make the KT I wanted. After looking at what bits I had, I ordered a few boxes of Ork plastic and got started.
Gist of the background to the Kill Team first, them some pics.
There was once an Ork Kill Team (no name at the moment) that comprised a pretty standard loadout of big hulking Orks, maybe some Burnas, Lootas, Boyz and a Big Boss Nob. However, there was also a multitude of Gretchin that were of course treated badly by the Orks and thrown into combat with no regard to their safety and well being.
The "Leader" of the Gretchin is called DW Murderork, known to the others as "Death Wish", because he constantly talked back to the leader of the Kill Team, Boss Nob Hammateef. One day, it all becomes too much for DW and he seeks a means to change the lives of his Grot pals and finally get back at the Orks, perhaps murder them...
It just so happens that DW has a brother (of sorts), called HM Murderork. HM is part of a krak kommando unit that he knows might be able to assist if you have a problem, and that no one else can help, of course if you can find them, maybe you can hire...the Waaagh!-Team, or W!-Team.
They do, no one else can, they do, they do...
The W!-Team come in, kill all of the original Kill Team using fun and imaginative devices, but leave Boss Nob Hammateef alive, but apply some weird tech to essentially lobotomise him, rendering him a useful tool for the new Kill Team, under the leadership of DW!
After all of that, we have our new Ork Gretchin Kill Team, with Kommado allies...and a Boss Nob.
Leader - DW "Death Wish" Murderork
Spoiler:
Nothing really hidden here, its just a Gretchin wearing a Tempestor Prime coat, holding a skull-on-a-stick...wearing a beret.
Comms - Snikkvox
Spoiler:
Grot with binoculars, with a GSC/Ad Mech backpack and a GSC shotgun
Couple of prominent Gretchin - Rendin' Greenkin and Private First Class Vinny Pile
Spoiler:
I've never actually played PUBG, but the welding mask guy from the Mek Gun kit seemed to insist on being the guy from the front cover of that game. Rifle is from Victoria Miniatures.
Pile stole an Imperial Guard helmet once and due to Orks, he now thinks he IS an Imperial Guard soldier called Private First Class Vinny Pile. No one else knows where the name came from.
Rest of the Grots
Spoiler:
Gretchin from the Gretchin box and the Mek Gun box.
The W!-Team (Definitely NOT the A-Team)
Kron "Kannibal" Jawsmoka
Spoiler:
Runtherd body, holding a really long rifle (that due to Kommandos only using sluggas is just a slugga) made with...bits. Also has a power klaw and cigar.
Fun fact - Loves it when a plan comes together.
Templekrusha "Skullface" Krek
Spoiler:
Stormboy body, shooting a Primaris Reaver grappling hook from a slugga, trying to get high for better ambushes.
Krozko "Pozitiv Attitude" Krakkus
Spoiler:
Ironjawz Warchanter body (sans arms), holding 2 big knives, with added shiny jewelry and something that might be an mohawk.
Fun fact - Is not under any circumstances getting on, or otherwise boarding any form of air based vehicle.
HM "Howlin' Mad" Murderork
Spoiler:
Lot of crap glued together (honestly what it felt like). Grot buddy from the Stormboyz kit, but chopped off some of his rocket pack. Made a "copta" attachment using a claw from the Runtherd weapon, glued to a Tau drone undercarriage, with some plastic strips for rotor blades and a Stormboy engine intake on top. He's controlling said copta by using a stikkbomb holding hand attached to a Tempestor Prime servo skull cable (no servo skull though)
The W!-Team
Spoiler:
In game, these guys are all Kommandos, including HM, who makes use of his "copta" to move around like any other respectable Kommado should.
Boss Nob "Yarp!"
Spoiler:
Ogryn body, Nob head, Combi-Rokkit, Crown, because of course he does, he's Yarp...
Thanks for reading all that waffle. I am not sure you can put together an Ork Kill Team and not have fun, but you definitely can't if you make it all about the Grots!
