Base mine with silver (well metallic black through chrome), then airbrush Tamiya clear red over

I use Retributor Armor spray, then use Red Ink or a mix of Vallejo Air Red and Air Blood Red, depending if I'm doing actual Rubric Marines or 30k Marines.

Red. The blue just looks more authentic this way.

Wasn’t the original colour enchanted blue?

Well go back to 1st Edition an Thousand Sons were Magenta and gold, or Magenta and yellow (was kind of hard to tell), moved to a red. (box art on V1 Space Marine)

The blue is more recent.

I think the red/gold with metallic red looks way better but a metallic blue/gold would work on the newer models I think

I am going to paint mine in gold and blue colour scheme and basecoat Retribution Armour. I would assume it is easier to paint blue armour panels on gold basecoat rather than gold armour trims on blue basecoat.

That place is the harsh dark future far left with only war left.

White, then washes. Blue and yellow are both really hard to cover with another layer.

I started my rubrics with a basecoat of blue, and it was a mistake. Dem thousand boyz have a TON of gold filigrees that made me wish I had started with gold and painted blue.

But for their big critters and wagons, I base in blue.

Also, for the rekord, I'm a big fan of the thousand son's GW color. Gotten a couple comments on it too, it's a nice blue.
