I am trying to play mono Ultramarines at an upcoming event. Rules are ITC Championship Missions with a 1500 point army, no Forge World models are allowed. The idea is to run no armor, so if the enemy brings anti armor weapons they are wasted (my meta is pretty vehicle heavy with knights, guard & tau). I'm not sure if Gulliman is worth it at this point level, he only is surrounding himself with 1100 points worth of stuff, but he is such a major beat stick that I feel like without him I won't have the melee threat to break out of my deployment zone.

Dakkadakka what do you think, how badly am I gimping myself by not using allies? What can make this list better? I'm open to buying different units if need be.

Made a few changes, to get a Captain and TH instead of a Lt.

Ok. looks pretty good. But do you need the captain when you have Guilliman with his better 6" bubble of reroll everything to hit and wound instead of just rerolling 1s? Maybe I guess.

Tigurius......meh. never liked him. Terminator Librarian is more durable. or a Librarian with Armour Indomitus.

The weapon diversity of the Dev units is a bit strange.
I'd focus the units on anti-tank or anti-infantry, but not a mix of it.

i think his strategy is Hellfire shells for the Heavy Bolter and splitting fire between the Heavy Bolter and the Lascannon and Missile Launcher.

why? are you still playing 7th edition/? cause in 8th edition devastators with mixed weapons are a must

your list is fine but you gonna need banner with relic for the hellblasters! better remove 1 or 2 of these guys and get the banner? or remove the heavy bolters for extra missiles launcher!

I would prefer a canonical loadout, like 2 heavy bolters and 2 lascannons (missile launchers) per squad.

But since you can now split fire, isn't it better to split the weapons across the different squads so that if one is say, locked in combat, the other one can still use all the different weapons and stratagems?

Yeah I split the weapons that way if they wipe one of the squads I still have access to both stratagems.

I currently run the captain as a second beat stick. At 1500 points I found that Gman can not sit back and just provide rerolls he has to get in the enemies face and smash things.

So with him moving up the board sometimes I'll keep the Captain back with the devs to continue to provide the reroll, and threaten a counter charge if anything thinks about moving up.

I played against eldar the other day with this list and I got destroyed. I played to reserved with my hellblasters and G-man and I wasn't able to do enough damage before my army was whittled down.

I'm debating doing a list with 3-4 razorbacks with assault cannons and cutting the hellblasters, but I would leave myself open to being charged by chaff and ruining my day.

If anyone has any suggestions for Ultras at 1500 I'm open to any and all suggestions. I really want to make them work without allies especially since we don't know what the FAQ will bring.

Still think you should change Tigurius for a standard librarian.

I think that is the plan. I found his -1 hit didn’t seem to be a big deal as the enemy would just shoot everything else. His reroll to get null zone off was my saving grace. If I needed to cut for points he is the first thing I’d change.
