Thoughts lads? I want to run my 2 Forgeworld Dreads, and I feel this list should show them off nicely?

Core premise of the List is 2 Tactical Squads pile into rhino 1, and the third Tactical Squad piles into Rhino 2, along with Tig, Capt & Techy, hopefully blocking LoS for the most part. Guilliman sets up between the 2 devs, who are in elevated positions hopefully, but relatively far forward in my deployment zone. the Dreads sit either side of him.
The Captain may hold back and buff Devastators if they're not taking fire, but I'd like him to be acting as an assault deterant with the burning blade 7th ed styles

Turn 1 (casualties permitted) The Dreads and Guilliman move up to anchor the midfield, and the rhinos follow. When they disembark the Tacticals will form a defensive perimeter or move out to objectives, while the rhinos are moved and parked to stop any potential charges that look unfavourable? maybe drive up and assault something shooty to tie it up.
Tigurius casts might of heroes on a dread to boost it to T9, and confers a -1 to hit on one or the other. The Techmarine repairs damage as it comes in with any luck? Note the Deredeo comes with an atomantic pavaise conferring a 5+ Invuln to all chapter units within 6"

-Any thoughts boys? please don't recommend a load of scouts, they make my blood boil...

What is the idea for this list? Tournaments? Competative friendly games? It looks alright but al marine army's struggle on tournaments right now. Darn 3+ armor save is just to expensive.

Alex_85 I dig the idea, love me some hellfire heavy bolters, and actually theres already a free slot in the lascannon devastator squad... unfortunately....


faithonwings I developed this list for competitive friendly games, but got a few semi-competitive tournaments in sight over Christmas so fine tuning begins effective immediately.
My problem? WYSIWYG rules, and a lack of cash! I could maybe afford 1 more box before then but I'm not sure. just dropped a bunch of cash on thre Deredeo.. sooo sadly IO don't have heavy bolter infantry :(


Any other suggestions lads?

Aha, that makes sence. I love this hobby, but yes. It's so darn expensive. To many idea's en not enough cash to try them all. O the lists on paper I've build that will never see the light of day.

The main army's you will struggle te most with is -1,-2 to hit army's like eldar and dark elder. Bringing a captain with a jump pack and a thunder hammer helps with this. Be sure to take a santic halo relic for a free deny the witch agains doom and mind war powers.

other army's that you will have a hard time with.

Imperial Knights, just be sure to backpaddle and waver them down, than counter with G-Man and dreads.
Horde army's. You don't have the shots to take lots down in 1 turn. Be sure to play aggresive and get to rapid fire range. Focus down on 1 squad and let morale test do the rest for you. Also, rhino's can very handy to manipulate enemy movement. No chance to take a razorback with twin assault cannon by any chance?

Hope this helps a bit and at least you enjoy those events.

Concept lists are a fun use of spare time though

Not too many knights in my Meta thankfully, but never had too many issues with them, just whittle them down from range and as you say; Gman's counter charge is pretty damn effective. My Dreads aren't that punchy, but at S8 they're no slouch either. Eldar and DEldar haven't given me too much schtick either, maybe as they're newer players? but generally if shootings not working my Tacticals get stuck in and punch stuff... not as effective as some would like, but the bonuses tend to be on shooty units anyway so tying them up and gradually stripping off wounds seems to work for me so far.


HORDES! yeah 8th does tend to favour massed infantry, fortunately the leviathan has a decent shot output, particularly the Grav Flux bombard, I get an extra D3 shots for every 5 models in the target unit, so he's doing okay, and Frag Rounds from the missile launchers are a neat little trick if in a bind with hordes too.

Always play my Tacticals aggressive, I find the Plasma combi-plasma has a nice lil punch that many overlook, they're my midfield units and can move deeper if necessary. in rapid fire range they're kicking out 4 S7 Ap-3 shots, and if thee's something nasty headed towards them they're dead anyway, so overcharging can push up to S8 and Flat 2 damage...

I like the Razorbacks, but this list is actually quite aggressive and I was looking for the Transport capacity more than fire support. My Leviathan moves 8", The Deredeo moves 7" and Guilliman moves his 8" on the first turn, deployed forwards they contest the midfield nicely, with the Rhinos running my Support Characters and Tacticals into position around them!
-I REALLY wanted pods, (Anti-meta confirmed), but they're so overcosted :( -2 Lucius Pattern and 1 Regular for characters and 5 Tacticals would've allowed Guilliman to move up with advancing Tacticals and the Dreads would've been immune to 1st turn shooting... here's hoping for a price drop in the 2.0 codex!

Also failed to mention that knights don't wanna be near my \Grav flux bombard, a strong volley with Gmans re-rolls can take 15wounds off of titanic units

I think you should go with 2x storm cannon on leviathan. Bombard is simply the worst choice of all 3. I am going to get a levi myself and going with double melta or double storm, magnetized.

Unless not everyone plays with that rule, I think your list is "illegal".

Relic Deredeo will require something in the elite slot, and you don't have any elites in the army.

oh my god he's an ELITE! my god I'm stupid, didn't even check his slot; with it being a fixed dakka dread with no melee options I figured it could only be heavy support, my bad. will ppost revised list asap
