Having got back into 40k I picked up my first ever army again and have my first tournament coming up in a few weeks. Looking for suggestions, tweaks, and tactical advice about how best to use them!

CP's: Battalion + Battleforged = 8.
Pre-game: Death Visions -1 & potentially Veritas Vitae (CP on a 5+ when using a strat) would cost an additional.

Battalion

HQ:
Slam Captain - Thunder Hammer, Storm Shield, Warlord, Artisan of War (+1 Damage), The Angels Wing relic (ignore overwatch & reroll charges) - 129
Lemartes - 129
Librarian Dread: Standard loadout w/ storm bolter - 172

Troops:
Intercessors x5 w/ bolt rifles + 1x aux grenade launcher - 91
Intercessors x5 w/ bolt rifles + 1x aux grenade launcher - 91
Scouts x5 - bolters + storm bolter on Sgt.

Elites:
Death Company x10 w/ Jump Packs, 2x Thunder Hammers - 232
Death Company x10 w/ Jump Packs, 2x Thunder Hammers - 232

Flyers:
Storm Raven: Twin Multi-melta, Twin Lascannon, Twin Stormstrike Missiles, 2x Hurricane Bolter - 358
Storm Raven: Twin Multi-melta, Twin Lascannon, Twin Stormstrike Missiles, 2x Hurricane Bolter - 358

Total points: 1849

Deployment: All on board except 1x Death Company squad and Lemartes. Deploy as if going 2nd with Storm Ravens out of range of anti-tank if possible.

Turn 1: move Ravens near the slam captain and shuffle everyone else as appropriate, moving forward slightly. Turn 2: Beta strike - DC + Lemartes drop down, Slam Captain uses Upon Wings of Fire if req. Storm ravens move up into rapid fire range w/ HB's + melta range as appropriate.

I also have a (crazy?) idea of using Upon Wings of Fire on turn one on the captain and flying both storm ravens right up the board to alpha strike (using the captains bubble). Lib Dread would use Wings of Sanguinius (free 12"move in psychic phase) and Quickening to give +3" to his charge, meaning 28" move on turn one including charge (w/ average charge roll of 7+3). If I got turn one I would also use Forlorn Fury to give the Death Company unit on the board the free 12" + advance pre-turn one, pretty much guaranteeing them a first turn charge as well.

Thoughts, tips, feedback, C&C all welcome!

I really really like your list. I think it's really strong! I might only change one or two things. If you are investing 700 points in stormravens, you might as well maximize their drop capacity. I would drop the jump packs from the death company since they can't charge over units anymore and drop them both from the storm ravens. I would change one interecssor squad to a scout squad. Then you would have enough points to pick up a death company dread and drop it too. I would also load the librarian dread as well and change its powers to quickening and/or unleash/ shield for DC buffing. With all your units on the board you have a high chance of going first. Might as well plan around a turn 1 drop and charge.

Thanks for the suggestions! You're right I'm probably missing a trick not using the SR capacity. I guess I'm just worried about getting focused fired if I go 2nd against Tau/Knights/IG and having a massive footslog up the board.

However I'm actually building the 2nd unit of DC at the moment so will try a couple practice games without JP and see how they go in the raven. Also would mean I don't need Wings and can go for unleash rage to buff them with the Lib Dread - good idea.

Yes I need more scouts - I like the Intercessors as 2 wounds and in cover they're on a 2+ so good resilience, but scouts are definitely more competitive - the models are just crap though haha. Eventually I think I'll go for the full 30 but need to build it up. Put them on the list!
