Considering each available codex for the armies of Chaos, what are your favorite units to play? What units are the most fun on the table? What is the strongest? And what just looks cool on the battlefield?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I've had a lot of fun with Foetid Bloat Drones. Fun to play, durable, and a fantastic model. Daemon Princes are pretty awesome as well. Definitely a must have for any chaos army. Though I am not at all a fan of the standard model. I also absolutely love painting plaguebearers. I wanted to love poxwalkers, but plaguebearers are my blob of choice.

At the moment I'm playing Death Guard and Nurgle Daemons, but will soon be working on some Tzeentch and Thousand Sons.

Deamon princes are fantastic fun and there are an incredible amount of options out there to use for the model, even from gw. From their first pewter variants (which i still own one of), to the many new options, to the fact that size creep has made the old greater deamons now the same size as current dp's so you could use those as well.... you shouldnt ever see multiples of the same one on the table from different players.

As for what i like the looks of the best / find works the best i love my defiler. In a tsons army these things can do so much heavy lifting and are so hard to deal with its terrific. And the model itself, while old, can be easily modified to become something unique as well.

For me, it's Abaddon.

He's a character, he gives you extra command points, he lets everything around him reroll missed shots, and he makes your troops immune to morale. And he can fight.

There's no gimmick with Abaddon. He's just makes everything around him better and that's very satisfying. Narratively, it's great to see him actually winning in games. He just sucked so bad in previous editions, the fact I can now use him never gets old.

For me, it's been nurglings. So cheap and such a pain in the butt for my opponent. Love them little guys!

Thousand Sons in general feels like a very cool army to me in 8th. I combine them with tzeentch daemons and I have tons of psychic powers flying around, tons of buffs and a good mix of melee and psychic and shooting damage, making me feel like I can compete in every phase.

I play in a pretty casual meta though, so I can get away with using plenty of Rubrics and SOTs and I'm not hardlocked into just running boring ass tzaangor swarms and being glorified blue Orks.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

Cultists and Tzaangors feel too strong to leave at home though so them too, always.

P.S.A. I won't read your posts if you break it into a million separate quotes and make an eyesore of it.

As the one on the receiving end. Totally agree and wanna say Nurglings should be amongst one of the most resilient unit in the game for their cost. They are best to use tie up enemy big badess units such as Guilliman, so the rest of the chaos army can run over everything else.

Gotta be my Nurgle Daemon Prince with Suppurating Plate and the 4+++ trait, it's gone on some epic rampages already although 4+++ is not much use if I literally roll 1,2 or 3 8 consecutive times Need to give him some more Fleshmower Bloatdrones as companions though, 1 isn't enough.

Would have been Mortarion if he was easier to use in a mono-DG army, but alas.

Scorpius tank is so fun, Bloodthirser is scary when let loose, but the look on peoples face when you tell them you can attack twice with a unit of Berserkers is priceless.

Kharn is hilarious when he goes on a rampage. Figthing 2 or 3 times and getting an extra attack and strength every time he kills? So good.

Magnus is a lot lot of fun. The confusion when I move him straight forward t1 because the opponent doesn't know what warptime is is priceless. The amount of mortal wounds he can put out in a pinch is amazing too

I know she's not all that strong after chapter approved, but I love using Zaraknel. The big lady is so fast and killy.
