Hi Folks,

I was thinking of collecting the below.

Trying to go for a balance of what I think looks cool + vaguely useful.

Can anyone provide me with feedback on the below. Would this list be ok for casual games? Would it do terrible in a slightly more competitive setting?

Cheers,

The secon shadowseer is a bit of a waste, I’d either trade it out for a solitaire, or another Farseer. Also scat bikes are pretty trash so you might want to trade those out for something like 3x 3 dark reapers since I’m getting a bit of a competative vibe. The reapers are a bit more expensive but if you drop the shadowseer and scat bikes you could take them and a solitaire

Hallo,

So if I wanted to up the ante a bit your suggestions would make the list a bit more robust.

Thanks for the advice

I think it looks alright, Skyweavers are strong and especially strong against vehicles. Razorwings are also strong and can handle hordes. I think the most unusual thing from a competitive standpoint is the 9x Windriders with Scatter Lasers, they will die fast if focused and you should be careful to avoid morale losses since their leadership isn't great. They will crush hordes though, and they work well with the stratagem Forewarned. Since they are all in one unit you can use Forewarned to potentially shoot 9 Scatter Lasers at anything that deep strikes in LOS and within the 36" range of the Scatter Lasers. That would be hilarious against Orks and Bloodletters or any other low armor unit that comes in as reinforcements. I think it will be fine for casual games, but it is kind of a glass cannon list and I think tough and/or armored non-Vehicle units will be a big problem for it.

I agree with Straight_Memer on the Dark Reapers, even thought I think the Windriders could be fun against hordes. Instead of Dark Reapers/Windriders you could try Shining Spears if you want to stick to Saim-Hann. That could overwhelm your opponent with very fast bikes that aren't easy to remove when combined with the Advance+Change Saim Hann stratagem. As for the second Shadowseer, its not too bad since they have some good mortal wound powers and enough important buffs that two Shadowseers will have stuff to do. Dark Reapers really want the Guide power on them 24/7 and Shining Spears want Quicken from a Warlock so you might want to swap out the Shadowseer for one of those if you change things up.

Thankyou both for the advice, so if I swapped to shining spears would I still do ok against horde lists?

This list now has the several good pieces of all the elves' lists.

Shining Spears - still good after the Deep Strike - No - Quicken nerf. Use the warlock for Protect, then the 'seer for Fortune and Guide. Or Doom your target.
Razorwings - I favor Dark Lances of Disintegrator Cannons for the following reasons, which I copy/pasted from another thread. Overall, if you know the meta is infantry heavy, then DisCans, but for my local meta, I feel DLs do more, better work, but I field 3 units of wyches to deal with infantry. The DLs take down bigger wound models, as detailed below.
Spoiler:

Dark Lances vs. Disintegrator Cannons. T6 Vehicles of 10 wounds or so, fliers, etc, will shrug off S5 trying to wound and only 2 wounds dealt per pop. Daemon Prince? With DLs, two decent Wound rolls with failed invulnerable saves and there's a pain in the butt removed.

9 DisCans - 27 shots. 18 will hit. 2 more with an archon's Overlord bubble (which your list does not have. I calculated the numbers below with Overlord and Writ of the Living Muse bubbles in mind, but an archon in the list for the fliers is impractical. Just fudge the numbers down a little bit .
T6+ means out of the 20 hits, 6 or 7 wounds. Say, 3 more with Writ of the Living Muse. Out of 9 wounds most will go through on vehicles. With the enemy tank making a couple 6+ saves, so 7 wounds get through, yielding 2 each so, 14 points of damage. Meaning one dead rhino, flier (never mind minus to hit), a daemon prince, etc. However, that takes all 3 ravagers to bag a tank.

9 Dark Lances - 6 hit, 7 with Overlord bubble.
T6+ means 4 or 5 wound, with Writ of the Living Muse. With the nastier minus AP, no vehicle without an invulnerable will save, so 3D6 wounding means 10 to 11 wounds. Dead tank in most cases (Imperial - yes, Wave Serpents & Hammerheads need a couple more).

So one ravager can kill a 10-12 wound tank, though you're likely to need 2 DLance ravs to be certain. Two DisCan ravagers *could* deal out 12 wounds, but that's all hits, all wounds, and no saves to kill a tank. Very unlikely.

Counter argument *for* DisCans versus Dark Lances :
Lotsa poxies to face? Plague Bearers, multi-wound Talos? Ogryn? DisCans are more efficient. There are too many varied Ts and Feel No Pains, and armor/invuln save variants to Math-Hammer out, but yes, if your opponent is vehicle light, the Dark Lances are less desirable.

Clown elves in paper boats. I've seen an average-to-better player take a few RTTs with them. I feel intimidated in playing them without a good paint job. I know that's not rational, but it's almost a sin to play poorly painted Harlies.

Hello, and thanks for the input.

I might magnetise the razorwings to give me options. I know what you mean about the Harley’s and paint quality. They do look truly epic when they are sporting good colours
