Hi everyone. Here are two of my Charnel Hounds. I'm going for a 'realistic' scheme that is both striking and also could pass for urban camo. What do people think?

Honestly......I really dig them. They look proper war torn.
If I had one recommendation, I would clean up the number 1 on the dreadnought. I can’t do them really, but that would be my gripe. Not that it matters

Color scheme looks very nice and both mix very well for me.
I agree with ShadowCaptainMathius to work on that number. It's pain for most people to paint them and same for me so I'm not taking it again from freehand and instead I use Stencil sheet with numbers and letters - way more easier even than transfer sheets plus you can make them in any color you want

My observations would be:
-Great attempt at freehand, try to use the original background colour to neaten it back up and straighten some lines though.
-Do any *Iconography* before you do heavy *weathering* as you have with your wash.
The main point, with your washes:
-Either thin them more so and paint them onto the recesses in gradually built up layers, this gives you more control of how they dry and where the *depth* of tone sits.
OR
-If you're looking for a *dirtied* effect as opposed to shading, you still want to keep them thinned more than you have this time and look for the areas where grime would accumulate, on top of flat surfaces, around the edges of the model, less towards the middle, and away from joints and moving parts as the action and motion of these parts would rub grime away.

Yeah, I'm going for a really grimy look. A sort of urban, rubble and mud warzone. Think Bosnia circa 1994.
The Chapter symbol is going to be a black hound's head in profile. They're called the Charnel Hounds, after all.
Thanks for the advice on the freehand.
So, people think the scheme works? It's not too Space Wolfy? One person commented that it looks like a dirtied up version of an Ultramarine alternative scheme from a previous codex. I can't find it anywhere, though.

How did you get that weathering effect? I've been testing out various weathering effects on my blood angels successor and haven't found one I really like.

The blue is fenris grey with drakkenhoff liberally applied whereas the grey is administratum with Agrax Earthshade to muddy it up. Don't be too neat with the Agrax and it gives it a sort of organic, beaten look. I've used sepia and purple washes on the metals.
