Hey all

Just wondering- has the Doom Siren rule changed again? I know originally it was struck in iniative order, then in the (3rd?) printing of the Codex was changed to strikes first regardless... (of course I ran out and bought the 3rd printing at this point   Now being told it's changed back to strikes at iniative in a "later" 3rd printing (or might be 4th,dunno)

Been away from 40K a few months so just wondering if anyone knows for sure or not. I'm fine either way (though of course I prefer the strikes first regardless bit.. even if it is a tad overpowered) .

Tried a search and all I got was the endless stuff about the PF's with the rule.

Any info or confirmation anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Third Printing Chaos Codex: "In close combat, a model with a doom siren will strike first regardless of cover or weapons"

There was a 4.3 Chaos FAQ available on GW's web site for a while described as a 'preview' that changed the way it worked, but it was taken down and the 4.0.1 FAQ is the Chaos FAQ that you get from GW if you're looking for a Chaos FAQ, soooo...

If there's a later third printing or a fourth printing, I'm unaware of it. My third printing has the above text in it. As far as anyone can tell, those are the official rules for the Doom Siren.

Stop trolling us so Lowinor and I can go back to beating each other's faces in. -pretre

Lowinor + Hexx:

That's what my 3rd printing Chaos Codex says too, but, I'm starting to see people on various boards reporting that they too have a "3rd printing" Chaos Codex that has the older "always in initiative order" text in it.

I haven't seen a "3rd printing" like this, but I wouldn't put it past GW to put out another printing of the CSM codex without updating it to "4th printing"...

Many people claim that they have 3rd printing without actually checking the title page. They assume they have the most recent printing because they just bought it (not an unreasonable assumption, the book is "NEW" after all, it should be the most recent printing!). Unfortunately, many stores still have the 2nd printing on their shelves.

Check the title page. If it does not say 3rd printing at the center towards the bottom, you're livin' in the past.

Then again, another stealth update is definitely not out of the question....

Good point Blue Loki!

I think you're probably right, that is a bit more likely a scenario, rather than another "stealth printing" without changing the number from 3rd to 4th printing.
