Hi all, I've got a beat up old-school Land Raider from many years ago (cheeky bootsale find from my first go round in the hobby).
like this if you threw it down the stairs in a bag of rocks:

It's missing its guns, but at some point I glued on the 2 metal heavy bolters I had spare from a Predator kit. There's also a door missing as well as some other superficial damage on a few other bits. I had patched up some pieces with armour plates but I'm looking to make actual use of it now, so have ordered two sets of lascannons for the new Land Raider kit.
Since it's going to need some pretty hefty conversion work, and it's the very old design, I figure it has to go to Chaos, and with my Death Guard army growing thanks to the Conquest mag, I thought Nurgle might work best. I've got some Nurgley bitz, including a blob of tentacles and part of a hand, and a few heads/faces that I think are from a
GUO. Plan is to stick the head on the front, have the tentacles coming out of the open door, and covering up the bad job on the bolters up top with some kind of melding them to the Marine gunner popping out the top hatch.
I'll see about a pic when I get home from work for any other advice, but my main query is how to add on the lascannons? I've not built either the old or new
LR kits, but they are clearly very different, and my old one still has the hinges attached for the side guns. The pole is mostly broken off of one side, so I'm not sure mounting them there is going to work out great, but I'd like the mechanical part of the vehicle to look at least somewhat solid before being possessed. Would I be better to try and remove the hinges and attach the guns on to the hull directly, or try constructing another mount for them? I am looking at having to pretty heavily go to work with Green Stuff for the demonic part of the tank, so could make it look like...stuff...has grown around them? I'm not worried about them moving.
