I just launched my third Kickstarter, this time with some pretty cool (if I do say so myself) fully detailed ships of my own design. While I mostly use them for tabletop roleplay, I am sure they are people out there that could use them in their war games or just for display.

Have a look:

There are still a few hours of Day 1 Pledges for those interested.

You can check them out here:

O.M.G. !!!!! This is BRILLIANT and EXACTLY what I need !!! And I even managed to get in on the Day One pricing !! Happy Me !!! I'll still likely bump up to the "Collector" level to get everything from all of your projects. Wonderful designs and detail !!

I didn't even fully read the page yet. What kind of 3D printer do you use ? Your project has finally tipped the scales for me to buy one.
** Ah, found it ... Flashforge Creator Pro **

Really wonderful stuff. I don't know what exactly I'm going to use it for, but I sure do intend to use it. Lol.

For starters, I intend to make "blast off", "landing" and "pew, pew, pew" noises as I run around the house with the ships

Myrthe, DO NOT get a Flashforge Creator Pro! If you have that kind of money to kick around, the Prusa i3 Mk3 is THE best FDM printer out there. The creator pro is old, noisy and does not deliver the best work. Also, more expensive.

What groups/sites do you plan on posting to?

I am planning on live-streaming the interior of the Delta, so that the backers can have some input, and have the parts printed and painted before the end of the campaign. This is scheduled for next week sometime.

Thank you VERY much for the information and insight. I really appreciate the heads-up and voice of experience.

No worries. FDM tech moves very fast, and the Flashforge Creator Pro is yesterday's news. Go for the Prusa if your budget is that range. Only downside is the waiting list.

I myself have two Anycubic models, an i3 Mega and a DLP Photon, and I'd say both are quite newbie friendly, seeing as they are my firsg forays into 3d printing.

How would the Photon go printing the component parts for the shuttle do you think? I have been considering one for both this and the Antenociti drop ships.

Quite certain it will do it with gusto, but if you're printing biggish stuff, you'd want to hollow the models first using Meshmixer or something similar to avoid unnecessary waste of resin.

So far a small group for the local store and the main starfinder RPG facebook group since they have playable starships in that game which need interiors. Thanks for the update on the info of the Delta interior as that one seemed to have the most room inside without adding expansions. I don't watch much live streaming so hopefully you'll include it afterwards on a kickstarter update.

Will you be splitting the work with the exterior/hull on the FDM and interior components on the resin?

I'll need to see first what the files look like, but that's the initial idea. Much less additional work that way.

As for the resin vs. FDM, FDM is going to be a lot cheaper plastic wise, but the resin printers will give a better overall result. But they have been designed for FDM (including FDM built in supports in the case of the tiles), so some hollowing and drainage holes will be needed.

Thanks for the heads up, yeah I was assuming that from the get go. I usually hollow the files using Meshmixer myself, so far with good results.

Ah, yes, I assumed you know the drill, it was for the benefit of other FDM/SLA/DLP newbies. I did not want to recommend a resin printer for a first timer. The results are much better, but I shudder to think of the cost of resin to print all my ships out. The scout ship uses around 660m/2 kg of PLA. Resin is something like 4 times as expensive.

Sweet, I can buy the plans/files, but need to print them myself. Fantastic $$$ maker idea, but I'll pass on printing them my self.

If you do some digging you may find a local co-op or even library that can aid in such endeavors. Cheap compared to the price of a thunderhawk. However if forgeworld is going all specialist games does this herald the flight of the plastic thunder hawk? Reset the clock!

Looks like the Centennial Eagle's interior was revealed along with a bunch more updates including some alternate versions of the core ship/shuttle designs. Man I wish I had a dual printer set up!

Yeah, there are a ton of stretch goals unlocked now, it's been incredible. I am going to livestream further dev on the transport tomorrow night. The layout was made with backer input live on stream.
