So who do you think is the most underrated chapter?
I’d have to go with Raven Guard they get the job done while helping civilians when they can.

None of the First Founding chapters (a.k.a., Legions) qualify as underrated.

Flesh Tearers I think they get a bad rep. I mean they are awesome. They care as little about dying as Krieg does and so have the largest dreadnought force of any chapter as a result. They are the most underfunded of any chapter that still has a base of operations eg not legion of damned. Finally Seth is awesome I mean after the Badab wars when Dante asks for that tax from all the successor chapters Seth says it should be the blood angels paying him and then goes and says that the Blood Angels should be dismembered and all of its equipment shared out between all the successors.

I'm dyslexic and thus am bad at spelling and grammar please don't remind me in comments to my posts.
The flesh tearers really like killing so much. In fact they may love it more than inquisitors. |

Yeah, there might be a discussion at the second founding chapters, but even they can compete with later founding. At the same time, there are so many space marine chapters that are little more than a couple of sentences and a color scheme it becomes hard to not have a bunch of chapters tied for most underrated.

Yea agreed, no one should be able to say that any of the first founding chapters are underrated with a straight face! I think the Mentors chapter is pretty underated, they do the unglamourous work of teaching and supporting other Chapters and the Imperial Guard. Also the Flesh Eaters for being the cooler version of the Flesh Tearers with none of the fanbois and special rules!

Lore wise and players I don’t see a lot of RG or IH players makes me want to start a RG force.

Underrated? I'd say Astral Knights, perhaps? Or literally any of the Chapters permanently assigned around high-risk areas (Eye of Terror, the Maelstrom, Hadex Anomaly, the Grendl Stars), or maybe even the Vorpal Swords, who were some of the last survivors of the Abyssal Crusade.

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you. |

I think they got the short end of the bosspole in the switch to 2nd.
They were my second choice after the Salamanders back in RT. I kinda want to make a Rainbow Warriors Kill Team.
Charcaradons maybe the most underrated "newer" chapter.

I think the Crimson Fists are finally getting the recognition they deserve. Underrated, but very much less so.
I would have to say the Dark Angels Successors as a whole are probably the most underrated. I mean, they barely even exist as a separate entity from.the Dark Angels themselves. I would love to see them fleshed out some.
Edit: I forgot a word.

Crimson Fists? Ha no, they are the original poster boys.
Carchadons have a couple of novels not to mention their involvment in the Badab War. Painting all that tribal stuff on their armor is probably what keeps us from seeing them more often on the table top.
Lamenters is not a bad pick from an in-setting perspective but there are dozens of Chapters for which we have only a color scheme so they all win most underrated in terms of being neglected.
Marines Malevolent are probably the best pick in terms of a Chapter that only exists to be jerks and make another Chapter (Salamanders) look nice by contrast.

I look at it a little differently, I’d judge if a chapter is underrated compared to their place in the game, for example being first founding gives a chapter a certain amount of prestige but the Iron Hands don’t get the attention that prestige should merit making them underrated in my opinion even though they get more attention than most chapters.

Grey Knights. Their home planet has its own forge world that produces all the lost and rare tech. they have psi titans, can use psychic powers and magic, without being chaos tainted. In fact they can't ever be tainted by chaos. Their gear, ammo, armors are better then those of normal marines. Every aspirant is on the level of a librarius novice. Their indoctrination and implanatation is so perfect they never have to be scouts, they go stright to full brother. They have a ton of GK only gear, no other chapters can use. their psychic presence is so strong eldar are not able to dominate a few purificators when they meet them face to face. Demons melt by stright up being in the same spot as them.
Ah and they have precognition chambers that tell them in advance where an attack is going to be, so they can be on the spot when needed instead of arriving 2-3 years too late.
At the same time in game they do non have or do any of those things.

Exorcists?
Recruits undergo a daemonic possession and banishment, which apparently gives them stronger resistance to the Warp. They’re supposedly among the best at facing Chaos outside of the Grey Knights and Ordo Malleus, but also regularly fight mundane threats
