Having played 9 games now in the format, thought I'd give my views on Arena.

I am glad that GW is looking to make a more competitive, fair and tournament friendly format for Kill Team.

I play nids a lot (surprise!) and I must say that the strength of the list I run has gone up substantially in this format.

Horde has a significant advantage in this 4 round format - particularly swift, morale ignoring models like I have in my hormagaunt horde.

My list is effectively the same in every match up as it is 19 hormagaunts and one Tyranid warrior.

I quickly swarm forward with my list and then use hormagaunts as roadblocks. Another way to really infuriate my enemy is to use my lead guys (if fast enough) to prevent doors from opening. Since the flesh wound mechanic already favours horde lists, the lack of LoS and the addition of doors (as well as the opening mechanic) does build significant advantage for my list compared to before.

I am no tactical genius btw but in my 9 games I've played, I had my closest game with flamer heavy imperial guard. But since I could block the chaps for a round or so / as well as average rolls on flesh wounds I still on pretty comfortably.

Happy to hear other people's thoughts but this reminds me of the way Space Marines played with their free points in the previous edition where they just parked vehicles on objectives to win but had a counter via kill points missions. That doesnt exist here.

I am basically asking for nerfs or tactics against my list but I am more interested in a balanced game rather than a steamroll...

Interesting. Iv'e seen this theory on the DG vs Tau on youtube. The question is how can you stop the door if they win initiative. or does your one unit, with veteran and decisive move to block the door?

Get the door if you can swarm the objectives. If you can get the 5+, you may have sealed the victory.

I wonder if they need to make the check to prevent door opening a strength check.

There are enough rules around door opening that I dont mind the rule to keep doors closed disappears,

the problem is getting to the door if they win initiative... as they have multiple units to open the door
